Anyhoo, JBPP Week 5 warmups: rowing and a lot of band shoulder stuff and shoulder mobility stuff. Bench: 4x 225 2x 4x 245 (PR) 2x 3x 245 (Really thought I was going to get it the second time around. Nope) 5x 225 (Extra set with lighter weight for comparison) DB Skulls: 10x 28 3x 10x 30 ss w/ Wide Grip Lat Pulldown: 4x 12x 150 Zottman Curls: 16x 23 HA! These were hard as a mother. 3x 20x 18 ss w/ Tricep pushdown: 150x 5, 8, 7, 7 (these were extra just for the hell of it) A lot of arm and chest stretching First set of 245: Third set of 245: Fourth set 245: 5x 225, If processing ever stops: DB Skulls, like third set?: Rushed the set up on theat 3rd set with 245, also my left shoulder just gave out halfway up, not sure why, didn't hurt or anything, just sort of chunked and stopped working. I was sure I would get the 4th rep on the second try, but nope. I did the extra set with 225 to see where I was going wrong. Best I can tell I was just flaring my elbows too soon. I felt plenty strong. Form just wasn't there. That said, this was a good day in general for weight moved. I have never felt totally confident going for reps with 245 and I was today. So that is a huge positive going forward. Also, I love how frigging gigantic my arms feel after Mondays!! Petty, I know, but all those curls and tricep stuff just blows up my arms. Pretty cool. There you go. Good day, Squats tomorrow. Going to crush those.

The boards are because my safety bar settings are just a little off for the height of my bench and me. Without the boards, the bar sometimes hits the safeties, especially on heavy weights. Just that little bit of height makes a huge difference, and obviously works as I needed them today.

Bummed about the missed reps Mike, but if it makes you feel any better, I also missed reps on week 6. Damn bench anyway!!

Some good power on that 245 Mike. Big numbers coming. With the consistent progress you're seeing on bench I would be surprised if you are killing 325 by year's end.

First, great PR. When you start hitting rep PRs in the 4 or less range, it normally means a nice gain at the end.
Form wise, it looked like you might be flaring your elbows just a little too soon. That very well be from fatigue. No lift off really makes it hard, to be able to stay tight the way you do without one is something I could never accomplish. i get 225 lifted out to me ![]() Lets crush some squats!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jim. Yeah bench is finicky sometimes.
Thanks KD, that's why I still feel good even with the miss. I felt very confident and strong under the bar, it was just one of those days I think. Thanks Elite, BtB. 325 will be awesome, but honestly, my goal is to be right around 350 by the end of the year. I stay healthy and consistent I think it's doable. Thanks JB, yeah a liftoff would really help. Next meet I do is close to here so I'm going to look for some guys who might want to get a group together. Thanks Markie, PRs just for you and JB. Squats crushed today! JBPP week 5 warmups: Just a lot of hip and leg mobility and stretching stuff. A couple brief rounds of jump roping. Squat: 4x 275 3x 4x 300 (PR! prev. was 3 reps for one set. awesome!) Narrow Stance Pause Squat: 4x 6x 185 ( first set was 7, lost count) GMs: 3x 6x 135 Just a little extra work and checking to see if I'm doing them better. Hip, leg, and back stretches First set of 300: Second set, taped this one as second set was best one yesterday and I didn't tape it. Yep, I think this one was best today too evn though I rushed the set up and really wasn't totally comfortable under the bar. Third set, of course I get no respect from my daughter at the end! :Pause Squat: GM: Felt great today! Probably going right into auxillary bench tomorrow and Deadlifts Friday. That way I'll be back on track for next week. I like my mon, tues, Thurs, Fri schedule, so I'm just going to make that work from here on out.
