![]() 09/10/12 Bench Press Warm-Up 120x5 (5) 127.5x5 (5) 135x8 (5+) 120x1 paused 130x1 paused 140x1 paused 150x1 paused 160x1 paused, slingshot 170x1 paused, slingshot A couple of weeks ago I hit 135 for 7 on my previous cycle, so really pleased to hit out 8. Nothing special really, but just a single rep increase is an increase of 135kg of total volume, so I'll take that. Thought I'd do some paused singles afterwards as I haven't done them in MONTHS and I finally printed off the forms for my regional comp next month. All the presses felt easy, but the weights themselves felt heavy after doing the all-out set. Think I'm still getting accustomed to doing any kind of volume on my bench. Pleased with what I managed though, think I can easily beat my comp PB (150) in November. As an aside, if anyone's wondering how I'm prepping for the comp, training wise, I'm not. I put way too much pressure on myself leading up to the World's to hit certain targets and it messed me up. This time, especially coming off injury, I'm just rolling with it. Going to continue training as I am and just smash whatever I'm capable of on the day. Easy. Strict Overhead Press Warm-Up 80x3 80x3 80x2 65x10 65x5 Fried. Called it a day.

Great pressing and some nice volume in there too.
Showing great strength on the paused benches also. Last edited by markievicz; 10-09-2012 at 06:58 PM. |

You pull 500+ just for fun. You're right not to be too anxious about the competition. Just do what you do and great results are very likely to follow.
