26/07/12

Deadlift
60x5x2 sets
100x3x2 sets
140x3
180x1
210x1
235x1
250x1
262.5x2

Wanted to hit a nice, heavy double of something I haven't done before, so pretty pleased with that.

Sumo Deadlift Lock-Out
60x5x3 sets
100x5x2 sets
140x3
180x3
210x3
240x3
257.5x3
272.5x3
285x3

One of the problems I had when pulling sumo a couple of weeks ago was balance and physical confidence in standing in that stance when the weight got heavy. It felt daunting not having the stability of the closer stance, so I thought I'd try these out to get some more heavy lifting in. The bar was set just below knee height in conventional stance, so obviously higher in sumo. Felt pretty strong.

Lat. High Row
40x15
80x12
110x10
110x10
110x8

27/07/12

Had my MRI today on my shoulder, which was all in all a pretty interesting experience. Prior to that I had a dye injected into my shoulder and x-rays taken so it would allow the muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. to appear more vibrantly in the MRI scan.

Also, my shoulders barely fit in the tube. DENCH.

Called up when I got home to book the follow-up appointment, which after a lot of fannying around on their end is now booked for the 3rd September... ¬_¬ Unless they get a cancellation nearer, I'll call them again in a couple of weeks. Think I might just become a squat and pull specialist!

Haha, hopefully! Really need to find some sort of routine for my rotator so I can start rehabbing it - a friend gave me hit theraband so I guess as good place to start would be with that.

There's a book by Jim Johnson, Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff, it's pretty good; you may find it helpful.

Sorry to hear you may have a long wait ahead, would have been funny to see them squeezing you in to the MRI machine though

Thank you mate, it's all good - I can literally train everything apart from bench and overhead press and I feel like I'm in better/bigger shape than I was before my injury!

Thank you Babs, I "obtained" it so I'll check it out tonight. Much appreciated.

MRI machine was certainly a little snug! Wasn't uncomfortable so I can't complain.
