Alright, because of my financial situation I havent been able to go to the gym since last thursday. I been down to a quarter tank of gas since monday and had to conserve it just to get to work and back. Finally got paid today so I could hit the gym. Maybe the time off was a good rest period for me...
Thursday, August 30th. 2012 WorkOut A Back Squat 1x10x45 (Warm-Up) 1x8x95 (Warm-Up) ------------------------ 1x5x150 1x5x170 3x5x190 *Didn't feel quite as strong, could be because I missed Mon. and Wed. Chin-Ups 1x5 1x5 1x4 1x3 1x3 *Program says 5x5, but sometimes I wonder if I should do 1 set-max? Bench 1x10x45 (Warm-Up) 1x5x70 1x5x90 3x5x110 Incline Bench 1x5x45 1x5x65 3x5x85 Skipped forearms and calves.

then he starts going on about I don't have to lift heavy and how I can do higher reps, different training techniques and hack squats. I'm thinking, why the hell would I wanna do that? I told him I appreciate the ideas and I'll try it out sometime, but for now I'm training for strength.
Even a couple weeks ago, a co-worker who happens to go to the gym I joined. Was trying to say I don't have to lift heavy and I can get big with higher reps and its okay to switch up my routine.. People are scared of heavy weight. Avoid these black holes of mediocrity. Great log, always fun to see somebody starting from scratch

Thanks for the support guys!
Don't mean to sound like a broken record, but havent been able to maintain my consistency the last two weeks, personal & financial reasons.. So I kept things pretty simple today just to get in the groove again, not trying to back pedal. Going to really start focusing on my Bench and OHP's - progression and intensity. Oh and once again, the guy at work wants to preach his "knowledge" to me. This time he says I should change my program every week to shock my muscles and not plateau.. ![]() Okay enough about me! Friday, September 7th. 2012 Workout A Back Squat 1x10x45 (Warm-Up) 1x5x155 1x5x165 3x5x180 Chin-Ups 1 set max: 10 reps Bench Press 1x10x45 (Warm-Up) 1x5x70 1x5x90 3x5x110 *Going to add 5lbs to each set next time.

Workout B Front Squat 1x10x45 (Warm-Up) 1x5x115 1x5x135 3x5x155 *Had more intensity, speed and explosiveness and it actually felt easier! Going to add 5lbs next time. Barbell Rows 1x12x45 (Warm-Up) 1x5x60 1x5x80 3x5x100 Shoulder Press 1x10x30 (Warm-Up) 1x5x50 1x5x60 3x5x70 *Again, more speed and explosion. Pictured Lou Ferrigno pressing - Arnold, Arnold! Going to add 5lbs next time. Deadlift 165x5 195x5 225x4 *Couldnt get the last rep, which I was kinda suprised. Machine Calf Raises 3x10x60 Good workout today, hoping to keep the same intensity for tuesday.
