DLs only session:
20kg x 20
30kg x 5
40kg x 2
45kg x 2
50kg x 2
55kg x 1
60kg x 1
65kg x 1
70kg x 1 (still feeling light which was interesting)
75kg/165 lbs x 1
80kg x 0 (missed today, tried 3 times but did manage to break the bar off the floor)
65kg x 3 (these felt really heavy )
55kg x 3
50kg x 3
45kg x 3
35kg x 5
35kg x 20 (yep, 20 )

I tried for 77.5kg (my previous PB) after the 3 attempts at 80kg but was too fatigued by that point, though I feel it would have been a certainty had I maybe dropped one or two of the reps in the earlier lifts.

Am I dissapointed? Yes; Am I upset? No...for the following reasons:

The last time I hit a PB on the deadlift was over 6 months ago. I had, by that time, had several heavy sessions of DLs at the gym which I haven't of late, having had only 2, and that's including today's session. Most of the above lifts were also done at a deficit unlike those at the gym.

I was also around 14-17+ lbs heavier at the time, so I'm now lifting as much at a lighter bodyweight. My lower back feels fatigued due to the sessions last week and I'm lethargic and tired in general today (due to sleep).

All of the above taken in to consideration, I'm actually pleased with today's session.

I'm going to give my shoulders at least another day and then decide on how they feel; if I don't feel they are up to OHPs by tomorrow, I may swap squats in for the next session and shift OHPs to a later session in the week; though not optimal, probably a lot wiser.

Shoulders were great, best they'd felt in over a year and then there was too much OH work, according to my body and how it responded.

But, no lifting today. No biggie!

Congrats on the progress Babs.

5 pounds can make a world of difference for me. From "light" to "OMG".

Had you consider dropping 80kg to 77.5 after that first miss? Or was that first one pretty close?

I had considered 77.5kg which would have equalled my last PB which is why I deliberately chose to try for a second and third lift at 80kg instead of dropping to 77.5kg...maybe not the best choice, given the circumstances of tiredness etc...but I feel I learned something from the 3 failed attempts which were nowhere near close, btw

As long as your back was ok...

Sometimes the first rep for me is ugly until I find that groove, so you never know.

Thanks Ravi

It's not a PB though which is why I haven't listed it as such; it's 2.5kg lighter than my PB although at a lighter bodyweight, that's all.

Managed to get the dinky front lawn cut then it started to rain, the rest will have to wait; got a short non-intense cardio session in right after I woke up it's a start.

Hopefully weights later; decided I may do bench today (not using the knobbly board to lay on in order to avoid another bruised head)...and then place squats and OHP later in the week.

Bench session done...kept things on the light side, everything seems okay at the moment.

Warm-up and shoulder mobility
Broomhandle rolls and dislocations

Bb Bench Press
Worked up to 31kg/68.2lbs for reps

Bb BOR
50 lightweight up to 22kg

Pretty happy with the shoulder which felt easier after the session; my upper back has been really tight all day as well, TOS-related but not sure why...might need to make sure I do the shoulder mobility work every day regardless of whether I'm working out or not, as long as it helps, I don't mind.

Also, still working out exact grip and working on back arch and tightness etc; no issues with the arching but trying to work our the best grip distance which I believe is arms vertical when the bar touches the chest, if I'm correct.
