Exactly. Like some always say..just do what you do and don't spend your energy worrying about what others do.

Haters gonna hate.

I agree. I do think though that most powerlifters have a secret desire for a chiseled look and most bodybuilders would love a bigger body.

Two sides to the same coin. We're not as far apart as we think.

I hope I didnt hurt anyones feelings. That article is directed towards the guy that wants what I would call a more "advanced physique". That definition is going to vary for each individual. If you dont want that then its not for you.

Lifter "A" is 200 pounds with visible abs and he may want to be 230 pounds in the same condition. Lifter "B" is 165 pounds with visible abs, he may want to be 185 in the same condition. My opinion is that the only way thats going to happen in a timely manner without a boatload of drugs or great genetics is for them to gain weight and get stronger. The increased workload and calories will build muscle mass and you will gain some fat. Once the muscle is built, then trim away the fat and "voila". Its no breakthrough but what I run into is these guys are not willing to do that. They are afraid they will lose their "abs" instead of realizing its a process and that if there patient, they can have their "abs" and the muscle mass too.

Most competitive natural bodybuilders compete around 165-175. They have already built the mass, and cut the fat. It's these guys that worry me:

Thats what I am talking about. That guy will ask me how he can get huge and then tell me he is afraid of getting "too fat".

Bruteforce and I have discussed this point before: it really takes a lot of work to get fat if you're 18-22. There has to be a big dedication to big eating, and usually a lot of junk and soda/beer involved.

I went from 180 to 270 after leaving the military. It took me a long time to gain that weight, and nearly a decade of crazy eating.

Is it? It nearly killed me to go from 285 to 210, and I couldn't hold it there. I'm back to 265 now. At 165 I would be skeletal remains, like on that TV show Bones!

nah man, I'm not that sensitive. But I totally know where you coming from. A have athletes who are afraid of gaining 'fat'. I'm like "You're a Linebacker! you need to be a beast!" Doesn't make any sense to me as well.
