I have no idea where the 200kg came from. Looking back over my logs and spreadsheets, my heaviest predicted 1RM was 180kg on a balls out 160kg set at the start of August. Since then I had a form check and needed to correct a few things and haven't pulled anything on my 5/3/1 sets above 127.5kg, that's over 3 months. I introduced singles in November that built up to my previous max and hit this with ease and then smashed it some. 200kg has been a goal for a long time but I didn't expect to get it the same day as my 4pps PB.

I was considering changing routines in the new year but I really don't see the need now. Right now I just want to build as much strength as possible and 5/3/1 works for me. So next year I am going to reset my 5/3/1 maxes starting nice and low and go balls out and see what happens, I should be able to ride it out for at least 6 months for the big lifts if not I'll reset and start again. I think the far more important thing is consistency and diet. Looking back, I have't skipped one scheduled session in the last 10 cycles of 5/3/1 and my diet is certainly working for me.

Just thought I'd share a few thoughts I've been having , rant over although I'm sure I could go all day.

You hit the nail on the head. Once you find that nice groove with training and eating ride it as long as you can.

14/12/11 - Bench 5/3/1 + Singles

Bench Press
Mini band doubled around wrists
40kg x 5
50kg x 5
60kg x 3

75kg x 5
85kg x 3
Remove band
95kg x 1

110kg x 1 +5kg PB
120kg x 1 (Possible PB)

Pull-up (Bench Superset)
5,6 Decided to conserve energy for bench

Dumbbell Rows
30kg x 12,12,12,12,12

Tri Pushdown/Facepulls
25 x 25/20,20/20,20/20

I wasn't feeling amazing today so I decided not to abandon the 5/3/1 sets and they seemed to pick my bench up some so went for the singles. Didn't really know how to play it as I had no idea where my 1RM was so started with the +5kg. It flew up and I felt really good by this point so decided on quite a big jump to 120kg. I asked the same guy to spot and I was confident I was going to get it even though it was a hard push but I'm pretty certain he touched the bar once it slowed down so I'm not counting it, pretty p*ssed at that. Only remembered to film the 120kg so no PB footage. I'll make up for this on Fridays squats.

Yeah he had an itchy trigger finger. Used to spotting the brahs, I imagine.

All bench PRs are good bench PRs. Creeping up closer and closer to 300.

Thanks guys, I'm happy with any progress on bench.

Squats in the morning and then some much needed rest over christmas, I feel pretty beat up from the last 2 cycles.
