You gotta try this movement!
I used the back hyperextension machine at the gym, but when I lifted my upper body up I also did a barbell row with 95 lbs. I know, it seems obvious, if not a little redundant, but holy crap, it hit EVERYTHING in the back of my body, including my calves. I was surprised at how hard it hit the chain going from the lower back into the hamstrings then finishing in the calves.
The hyper machine was to low to let me stretch at the bottom, so I really only got to do the top half of the movement, but the squeeze throughout the posterior chain was great.
