Default Weightlifting Shoes

Adidas Weightlifting Shoes

I have been thinking about these shoes. They are a decent price and have a small heel. What do you guys think?

Would these be good shoes for powerlifting, I like squatting with a slightly elevated heel and most olympic shoes just have too much heel.

Are there any other options you guys know of with only a slight heel?

This is another option, these are the Rippetoe shoes but they are slightly more expensive. The difference being the Adidas have .6 inch heel and these are .5 inch heel. I don't think that will make a huge difference to me

I always thought squatting should be done either barefoot, or with as little a heel as possible. That would help prevent leaning forward and keep a more upright back.

Unless that's just me... Once I dropped the kicks, I felt much more stable..

Then again, you probably warm-up with my maxes.. But, those Adidas shoes do look comfortable for overall lifting purposes...

I squat in a pair of boots. Where the back heel is slightly bigger than the front. I have some chucks as well, but just like the feel of the boots better. Eventually when my multiply stuff gets here I will have to wear chucks, but for now the boots are king haha.

Also, a lot of it depends on your squat stance. I am a fairly narrow stance squatter compared to people in my class.

If you're squatting narrow like in Olympic lifting, the raised heel will help with the angle of the shin to get very deep (helps overcome ankle mobility issues).

I have a pair of the Rogue Fitness DoWin's and they are nice for narrow stance squats, but I have been training for a while without them and my squat is going way up. I have been using wrestling shoes, but just ordered some chucks to try out. I think the flat sole is better for a wider stance where you are trying to 'spread the floor'.
