SQUAT DELOAD

I know what your thinking - 405 is not a deload! Well, again, it's the beauty of using RPE. I don't arbitrarily pick a weight and go with it, I pick a weight that is just right on any given day, even on deloads, based on what I recently did and how the ramp ups are feeling. Today's RPE was 6 - meaning I leave about 4 reps in the tank. I did 385 for fivers last week, and my ramp ups today were feeling light as a feather. After the 1st 385 single, I knew I likely would have been able to rep 405 for a fiver, so 405 it was for singles, leaving 4 in the tank. Then, I thought it would be prudent to pyramid back down.

I also laid on my Biomat for 14 hours prior to lifting. watched 2 NFL Pre Season games last night and then went to sleep on it. It of course does an absolutely amazing job at repairing every cell in my body from the previous session.

I thought my form was top notch on all the singles. It also looks like my bar path actually goes slightly back, as opposed to forward if I was leaning forward. Interesting. I thought it may mean I might not be 100% locked out at the beginning of the squat, but it did feel like I was.

Never in a gazillion years did I ever think I would ever be calling a 4PPs squat light, but here I am!! Holy shit!!! It really just makes me wanna cry.

Lots of happy dancing today!

Squatter! Squatter! Squatter! Awesome lifting.

I'm thinking about giving the RPE scale another go next week when college starts. All that extra stress and workload might call for it.

Thanks buddy!! Indeed, I love JB's system. I mean, why go in and just lift something, when you can do more, or sometimes it is less? We all feel different on different days. Even tho I was thrashed last Sunday, I felt great last Tuesday. No rhyme or reason to that, but it is what it is, so I lifted heavier on Tuesday than I thought I was going to. Same thing yesterday.
