I sort of use this a lot, my theory is "put that extra bit of effort in" (not really effort, just seems to work) then not have to repeat the exercise, applies to exams, essays, breath holding; the latter one being the perfect example...just as you close in on 2:45secs, you start thinking, "I can't get to 3 minutes" then I remind myself that should I take a breath, that's not required because I can still hang in there (safely, I hasten to add) that I'd then have to start right from 0 all over again. Same with plank holds and such, keeps you going that little bit longer; and as you say, with you, it ensures you hit depth, by going that little bit further.

I read an article (I think it was), a day or so ago, in which one lifter, can't recall who as I've read so much, preferred to gauge his own depth in the squat rather than have someone call it out...during ordinary sessions, not sure what he did at meets...his reasoning was that if he knew what depth felt like, he had more chance of hitting it each time rather than waiting on a call. Having the back-up call at a meet makes sense as well though but sound reasoning on his part.

Some good insight there Babs. I think at some meets, you can even have a buddy or handler tell you when to go up or start the concentric. They had better know tho the depth rules!

No lifting today. However, it has warmed up here dramatically so I decided to go and start up the Mustang. It hasn't been started since last June. I'm really getting the itch to drive it, but I will have to wait until May, when the streets will be cleaned up by the City.

I also found out that this car is the lowest production car Ford has ever built. There is only 150 of these Canadian Cars, which are different from the US versions, and only about 18 of those 150 have 5 speed manuals, and of those 18, this is the only one with the graphic equalizer and short throw shifter factory with 3:08 rear gears. I am the original owner and it has 51k or 26,000 miles.

This car is my 1st love of course. It is really the only positive thing to happen to me growing up. I worked 2 jobs for 4 years to pay for it, one of them graveyards.

How is this lifting related? Well, this is how I learned to work my ass of for something I want. And I want to squat 500.

I am also really loving this song from 1964 Ed Sullivan Show. It is of course the year the Mustang was born, and my 1990 came along 25 years later. And, 25 years after that, I turned 50.

I do feel blessed Sir Swede! I am making the most of my life now. I have worked a job since I was eleven years old, and have only been unemployed for about 3 months since and I am of course 50 now - 39 years of straight work lol.
