DEADLIFT DAY

Back was feeling somewhat knotty this evening, which caused my form to be a bit off, which then made the first rep of the 465 and the subsequent backoff sets feel insanely heavy. Good thing my regularly scheduled monthly massage is Friday after work!

With that said, still reached my goal of a triple and I know 465X4 or even 5 would have been there if it weren't for the knot and form issue tonight. Also managed the backoff work tonight which made me feel pretty darn exhausted but satisfied and proud.

In the past, I used to put pressure on myself because I was supposed to be able to lift more than I was. Now, I feel no pressure since I am not supposed to be able to lift these weights. This is fueling my patience and smarts about this journey to some pretty dreamy lifts for me.

Yes the best part of that session is the patience and peace of mind to know it will come when it comes and there is no need to push to the edge!

Very nice pull work Jim! I'm thinking I need to get back to mainly pulls from the floor vs the high and low rack pulls, but we shall see.

Thanks Rich!!

I read an article here a few months ago where it was the authors opinion that if you need to improve your deadlift, then do it more often and no need for anything other than that, including rack pulls and the like. I personally will never do a rack pull again - it's murder on my lower back to start from a dead stop in that position. Never, ever again. Same reason I will never do a paused deadlift.

Great pulling SSSJ.

My deadlift saw great improvement when I started incorporating high and low rack pulls.......even with my lower back arthritis.....just goes to show (AGAIN) what works for some, dosen't always work for others.....

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Great lifting super Jim ... What suits to one needs not to suit others also .. you are making some great progress and that is what matters. Simply awesome ...
