I agree. In more ways that one. It's hard to see hard working lifters not blasting it. I need all the inspiration I can get.

Ok Steve - I will post question later in the forum. I'm surprised you do not have wrist wraps!!

Work aroungd the problem, break it down to one lift and one assistance per session and track which sessions made the back most painful, this way you should eventually be able to eliminate the lift/lifts that are causing the trouble. Then you can go REALLY light on these if you still want to do them, or just stop them alltogether and concentrate on cardio and the other lifts that you can do.

Hope this works out for you buddy

Carl.
Thanks Carl - you guys are saviors. I lifted this AM - will post up later

PUSH PRESS 07/04/11

For the time being, at least until my back issues are resolved and pain-free, I will be lifting 4X per week. Each session will focus on one of the 4 main lifts (OHP, Squat, Bench, & Deadlift) If low back is 100% OK after the main lift, I will proceed with some ad-lib assistance work. The moment I feel any discomfort in my back I will stop the lift and scratch it off my list.

Push Press

Bar X Lots
65 X6
95 X4
135 X3
165 X5 See Vid
165 X3
145 X7
Zero discomfort, so I proceeded to do some assistance

BHTNP
95 X10
100 X10
100 X10

Lateral Raises
20 X10
20 X10

Face Pulls
50 X10
50 X10
50 X10

Pull Ups
Alternated grip - wide, close(palms facing),chins
4,4,4,3,3,3,2,2,2,1,1,1 (30 Total)
Did these as fast as I could

Cardio
Elliptical
10K (6.2 Miles)
55 Mins
First time doing cardio in months. Felt really, really good. Felt strong throughout - no gassing or fatigue, or back pain

I am happy to report I had absolutely no back pain at any point during the session this AM - and I still don't as I write this later in the day.

Squats tomorrow. I will probably do front squats as they are more low back friendly.

Thanks Carl

Not so great news this AM. I felt the knot/discomfort/mild pain as I was re-racking the bar on my last set of squats this AM. Thus, it is obvious squats are a bit of a problem. I didn't feel anything until that point. Full report coming tonight.

Sorry to hear about your squat session, Jim. Have you been rolling and icing it?

Good Workout! Your form looked really good on the Push Press. Glad to hear that your back seems to be holding up, thus far. Just keep doing what you can do, train around it, don't push it if there's discomfort and your back will be 100% before you know it.

Those push presses are looking good, JimBro! Keep it up, and rehab that back back to full strength
