I personally believe that you can develop thick abs without a lot of direct ab training, especially if you have a solid variety of heavy compound lifts - which you do.

My opinion is to stick with what's working. If you're enjoying not hitting abs hard, with squats and deadlifts, etc. in the mix it's certainly not going to prevent you from building ab thickness to some degree.

I'll take the other side...

Why not? Just do 3 sets of 20 incline situps at the end of each workout, or on your off days. It should take less than 2 minutes, and will give you a little extra for the abs. It surely can't hurt..

This is where I was uncertain. I know I'm hitting the abs pretty hard with the deads, the DOMS let me know that! I know you can over-train a muscle group, just wasn't sure about abs though.

Thanks ricka...

I agree with ricka here, I think a little direct ab work can still be beneficial. Your abs do get worked hard in other movements but a few direct sets is still a good thing. Your abs are very important for every other lift, so you should keep them strong.

It is very difficult to overtrain abs, I doubt you could do it.
