Default How important are days off?

This is one thing I am sort of confused on. I hate not going into the gym. The only time I don't is when my body is feeling really tired, then I know its time for a day off. The last time I took a day off was last tuesday (5/25), should I take another day off before I start my rotation over?

Should my rotation look like this:
Chest/Tris
Back/Bis
Legs
Shoulders
Arms
Day Off
Repeat

or

Chest/Tris
Back/Bis
Legs
Shoulders
Arms
Repeat until day off is NEEDED

your days off are just as, or more important than your days on. Growth and gains are made from recovery and nutrition.

When you're growing like mad...and you're at that age, I do not see a reason to train more then 3 to 4 days per week. Sometimes 5 days.

Looking at your routine, the big red flag for 3 is 3 pushing days - chest, shoulders and triceps. I would consider simplifying to something like:

Chest/triceps
Back/Traps
OFF
Shoulders/Biceps
Legs/Abs
OFF
OFF or repeat cycle.

It's better to start small and build in as you learn how your body is responding. If you start big, it can be confusing as to which pieces to remove.
