Default Amino spiking protein. Cause for concern?

Not really but it does suck to get tricked out of those precious protonz as Steve calls them.

I heard about amino spiking awhile back but payed it no attention. Then I came across this article today talking about what it is and how to identify amino spiked products.

https://blog.priceplow.com/protein-s...o-acid-spiking

"
The TL;DR

This is a long article. The more we researched this, the uglier things got. Here are the bullet points:

Some companies are adding extra amino acids such as*taurine, glycine,*glutamine, and*creatine*to protein powders.

They are counting those added aminos as*dietary protein*on the label, even though they’re not nearly as beneficial as real food-based protein.

This saves them big money because these added minos are very cheap.

Due to the FDA’s extremely loose and haphazard definition of “protein”, this practice is technically legal.[6,8,12]Products with creatine in them are by far the worst, most misleading offenders.

Learn how to read the label*here. In short:

Never*buy protein with creatine in itStrongly avoid protein products with taurine, glycine, or gluamine in the ingredient listing……unless the*full*amino profile is disclosed and it looks natural. There*will*be a class action lawsuit at some point. What we’re doing about it and how you can get involved*here"

Is your Brotein spiked?

I'm at work and can't look at my tubs of ON 100% Gold Standard. I will check as soon as I get home.
Does anyone know which brands to buy/avoid?

Mine is pure and simple, a by-product of cheese manufacture... well, that stuff refined a bit.

Straight WPC for me. I don't like or trust proprietary blends, etc., etc.

I thought it would be cool to get a list of *bad* protein, but it might be a conflict of interest for BTB and M&S so I dunno.

Avoid glycine, creatine, glutamine, glutamic acid, and taurine in nutrition label and ingredient list.

I have no conflict of interest. My interest is in truth, and M&S as a company is after good customer service. If something is bunk, they let the market take care of it.

This is, and always will be an unbiased form. It has nothing to do with any other site.

Furthermore, this is not my forum. It's a community. I simply pay the bills and do the coding so we can speak freely.

Another article:

I checked out M&S isofuel labeled "fortified with glutamine peptides" and it has glutamic acid and glycine but they account for this in the breakdown. The listed aminos total 30,000 and it contains 5000 in glutamic acid and glycine. So it is a legit 25 g. Protein. Interesting.

I get my stuff from truenutrition.com. Been very happy, and I know what's in it. Because I chose it.

Speaking of which, it's time to order up a few more lb. Thanks for reminding me!
