Default Instant Mashed Potatoes

What are everyone's thoughts on using instant mashed potatoes a couple times a week as part of a diet?
Pros/Cons?
I have been using Idohoan brand. 110 calories per 1/2 cup serving and they are tasty and filling.
I am nutrition ignorant and want to make sure I am not eating complete crap. Thanks.

All brands vary, so you'd have to watch ingredients (and hidden ingredients, if you can even locate those) but having said that I think they're a great idea.

Spud is great in any form, IMO, and I like to eat potatoes, but I used to make up a quick dish of smash, add some meat gravy and a little mint sauce as a snack; quick, easy, and warming.

A couple of times a week isn't really a lot at all so even if it's not considered the best option (by some), it won't be a bad one either.

I eat them sometimes, as long as I stay under my daily carb goal I am fine....

If I know I am going to have them with dinner, I just cut back on other carbs during the day.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Instead of water try using broth. There are vegetable (my favorite), beef and chicken broths on the soup aisle. Cheap, tasty, and adds some nutrients.

Almond and coconut milk as well. For some protein you can throw egg whites in as well

I suppose they're a convenient way to get in some carbs, but I personally prefer just heating up a regular or sweet potato in the micro instead of the flakes.

Man I love instant mash. Cheap, tasty, and fills out whatever dead animal I have on my plate. They are certainly not a health food, so I make sure to have a serving of green vegetables with them. I tend to be more of a "calorie is a calorie" type dieter anyways. I recently discovered Betty Crocker mashed sweet potatoes. Holy sh*t they are good.

I prefer unprocessed foods. Baked potatoes have high enough of a glycemic index as it is. If you process them, that further increase the glycemic response. So, as someone suggested, I microwave a spud if in a hurry, although they taste much better if baked. Also I periodically cook a batch of brown rice , and keep it in the fridge. So if I need a quick side, I just microwave what I need.

Just a note about glycemic response: Those numbers come from eating food in isolation on an empty stomach after a night of fasting. They don't have nearly the same effect when carbs are consumed with fats, proteins, and especially with fiber.
