I ask people to work in all the time and get approached quite often as well. Maybe I have no problem asking/being asked because I'm friendly or extroverted, but since I train mainly at my school gym, my workouts could take 2x longer if I didn't work with other people.

It doesnt bother me. When I train with Ryano there are up to dozen guys with the weight ranging from warmups to 900lbs. (Bench)

Working in isn't a huge deal, and I won't turn people down. People don't ask me or rarely even approach me in the gym. I've been lifting with a friend the past few months, and it's odd. He's not as strong as I am so his working weights are typically my second or third warm ups. The constant stripping of the bar is inconvenient, but I enjoy it. My workouts take about 30 minutes longer now, but I enjoy the friendship developed by it. I've asked and been asked to work in, and it never has been a problem. However, training alone is still my favorite.(except for the few times I've had to roll a barbell down my chest)

Been asked plenty of times. Have invariably said yes, as long as we are doing same lifts or at least something not drastically different like bench and squats. It doesn't really bother me, and if weights have to be changed after each set, we do it.

But then, I lift in an university gym which is more often than not, crowded, even as late as 11pm. I don't like to wait 30 minutes for a barbell, so I am quite cooperative in these situations.

If someone wants t work in with me I'm always happy to let them. If I'm doing deads they have the strip and reload plates for me though or I would get pissed. People never work in with me doing squats, I've never been asked.

I train deadlifts with 5-8 people every Sunday. Some are stronger than others and as we go up in weight, we let the people lifting lighter weights finish up, or we strip the bar for them. It's no big deal with a deadlift jack and 4 people to load the bar.

That said, I would never let a stranger work in with me during a squat, bench or dead whom I didn't know. Machines or anything else like dumbbells, I am happy to share.

I'm the opposite. I was training with a powerlifting team for a couple weeks and I thought I'd lose my mind sitting there waiting for everyone to go. They also wouldn't let you load your own weights, but you had to help load everyone else's weights. They spent most of the extra time between sets talking shit about members that weren't there that day.

It didn't take me long to realize that it wasn't for me.

I like people to stay out of my way and leave me the hell alone when I train. I've got stuff to do.
