Default How do I lose about 6-7 lbs to make weigh ins.

Yea. I weigh about 247-248 in the gym after several meals wearing chucks and clothes and pretty hydrated. Need to make 242 on Saturday.

Is the weigh in on the day of or 24hr in advance of the meet. I've usually just dropped carbs and sodium a bit on the days leading into the meet and weigh in the day before a bit less than hydrated and fuel back up before the meet. But I've always had 24 hr weigh ins.

Is the the weigh in one day and lifting the next or are they both on the same day?

This will influence recommendations.

If it's the former, I implemented the following:
Start eating low carb (if you aren't already) 7 days before, minimize salt intake 3-4 days before weigh in, keep water intake regular (until weigh-in day when you sip as little as humanly possible).

The morning of weigh in, I chewed gum, spit, alternated 15 minutes in and out of the sauna for 2 hours, and walked on the treadmill with sweats.

They have the option but I work and can't get there. Weigh in 8-9 first lifter @10. My carbs are already pretty low. I only eat them around training.

Water loading can help a little? I can drop a couple pounds with that.

Is that where you drink tons of water for a couple days and it creates a flushing effect?

I woke up 244.4. So I don't have a lot to go.

With your weigh in right before the meet I wouldn't do anything drastic. This is your first meet. Just have fun.

If you must make weigh in, I would drop carbs below 40-50 grams per day for 3 days, but eat to satiety. Then 12 hours before the weigh in I would sip water. Once that weigh in hits I would get some Gatorade & a banana in your system stat, or something like that.

You can also do the hot shower sweat for a quick loss.

Yeah, make sure you're still getting enough electrolytes as well. I try to go a week of high water intake. I don't find it drastic but some people can do.

Sounds like you're doing really well without needing it!

Low carb like Steve said. Cut you water at noon the day before weighins. Maybe skip your last meal. Morning of you should be right in. Weigh in and down a bottle of pedialyte. Eat carbs, sodium and protein like it's your job while pounding water. Another bottle of pedialyte that night. I would try to get two gallons of water in after weighins and before you goto bed. Morning I meet keep on the water and eat to fuel.
