Talking broke my leg.....

Currently writing this from a hospital bed after a high speed motorcycle accident, got a rod and pins the whole way through my shin bone. Doc says I should be out the cast in 6-8 weeks. So how should I go about re introducing myself to powerlifting. Especially since I finally got 100kg for 5 reps about an hour before the crash.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense I have quite a lot of morphine in my system right now

Slow and steady. Make sure there won't be any mobility issues and ask for any therapy for it. I didn't get any for my ankle and it's been like 2.5 years later and still bothers me.

Glad you're still alive

Once you're able to move around freely (before the case is even off) start benching, seated OHP, and chest supported rows.

Once the cast if off, follow the doc's suggestion on rehab. Once you're cleared for activity, take it slow, and keep up with mobility work. You'll be back stronger than ever

You should be able to atleast bench and do some light legwork as soon as the drugs are out of your system.

Good luck man.

Glad to hear you're okay.

Will any of the metalwork be taken out, at some stage? Hubby had metalwork that was working lose so it had to be removed otherwise it would have been left in place; your situation may be slightly different.

The thing is, if metal is removed, which then leaves a small hole in the bone, just bear in mind that it will take about 6 months for that hole, small as it is, to heal; in short, be careful not to push it too hard for that length of time.

Congrats on the 100kg x 5

First, thank God you are ok. Could have been a lot worse.

I aggree with everyone else - continue to work upper body and maybe the un injured leg (lightly) Do not get back in too fast and take it easy. Give youself plenty of time to heal. You can cause more damage if you do too much too soon. Better safe than sorry.

Just cause I am curious - what happened ?

I layed a few bikes down in my day and all but one was caused by other (auto) drivers.

Guy pulled out infront of me on a main road last minute hit him at about 60mph flew 146ft. Just had some more xrays and looks Luke I've broken some smaller bones in my other foot and right hand. Definitely could've been worse
