1/11/14 Max Effort Squat
Full gear against 130lb of chain - briefs -155x3, 245x3, 335x2, 425x1, 515x1 (Add suit bottoms) 605x1 (straps up) 695x1, 745x1, 775x1, 785x1, 605x1

GHR back extension against bands- 3 sets of 12

Leg ext- 3 sets of 12

leg curls- 3 sets of 12

Decline situps- 3 sets of 12

I was really pissed off about this workout. Everything in the suit was high, and I was sitting too far forward and loading my quads. I was also putting the breaks on too early and not being aggressive enough. Luckily, it was all technical issues that can be resolved, and all the weights moved easily. Better to figure this out now with 5 training weeks to go than at the meet, so as long as I control the rage and use it, things will work out well. I took one last down set at the end in briefs and bottoms and made sure to get it down. No video will appear from this one, I don't want any video proof.

As long as the weight felt good on your back I wouldnt worry too much. Still plenty of time to adjust.

Hope you can get those issues fixed. You have a lot of weight on your back. The strength is there.

hahaha, it was the least interesting training session in the world! Def a good tip. I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to technique that I get more mad about not being able to execute than if I miss a weight usually. It was a kick in the ass that I needed; I had slacked off a little on flexability work between sessions, so I will redouble my efforts there. No worries at all about being able to put it all together by the meet.

1/12/14 DE Bench
Bench against 80lbs of chain- 165x3x6, 175x3x2
*sets of 5 pullups between most of these sets

Dumbell bench- 100's x 26, 23

dumbell row- 90's x 12 x 2, 120's x 10

cable pullovers- 3 sets of 10

incline tate press- 3 sets of 12

lateral raises- 3 sets of 12

bicep curl machine- 2 sets of 12

band pressdown- 2 sets of 25

Another good volume day. I challenged one of our "B team" guys to a contest with the dumbells, and lost by 4 reps between the 2 sets. Granted I used the 100's and he used the 60's. He also does triathlons so endurance is more his thing than mine. It did make us both work harder, so it was worthwhile, and I'm pretty sure that this was a rep PR for me.

Big news for myself and the team at River City Barbell. We have chosen to partner with big Gene and the RPS, and will be hosting our first sanctioned meet on April 26th. Please pass the word on to anyone in the area that would be interested in lifting or watching. We capped at 30 lifters, so make sure to get entries in ASAP!!
