Default LD Recovers with Purus Labs AminOD

Special thanks to Randoja and the folks at Purus Labs for giving me the opportunity to review a 30-serving tub of AminOD, Purus' Labs intra-workout Essential Amino Acid matrix. I will be reviewing the Strawberry Lemonade flavor.



Current Lifting Routine:
2 on/1 off high volume body part split based around rest pause training and bulldozer sets
Cardio as I see fit (sometimes in the mornings, evenings, or post workout)

Current Goal: Increase strength in the hypertrophy rep range(s) while increasing bodyweight

Planned Dosing: 1 scoop intra workout (for both weights and cardio) as random scoops here and there during the day for flavor and to test recovery.

After every use, I will review the following (out of 10 possible points each)
Mixibility
Taste
Recovery (Intra-workout)
Recovery (Post-workout)

Tomorrow is a rest/cardio day, so I'm planning to bust it out then.

1/28/14: Mixed 1 serving of AminOD intra workout during AM Fasted Cardio (Incline Treadmill for 38 minutes)

Mixibility: 9
Picture immediately after shaking vigorously for 10 seconds


Don't let that pic mislead you (as I forgot to take an after shot); but the product was foam and granule free within a matter of minutes post-shaking, which was awesome. The intial foam died down very quickly

Taste: 8
Mixed one scoop in 20 ounces of water (full shaker), so I was expecting a light flavor. The container recommends 8oz of water/liquid per 1 scoop but I typically like more liquid with my intra workouts. The strawberry was a bit too subtle with that much water, but I got a hint of limade, which was also mild and not tart. Overall, it hit the spot as I was going to drink something while walking anyway, so why not add some EAAs in the mix

I will try with 16 ounces of water tomorrow.

Recovery (Intra-workout): 8
Very refreshing to drink during 7am fasted cardio; I woke up fairly sore in my glutes (even though I hit legs 2 days ago), but after my cardio and drinking AminOD I got some blood and nutrients flowing to the lower body so I left the gym feeling much less sore.

Recovery (Post-workout): N/A
Too early to comment at this point and considering it was just cardio, I'm not going to review this section

Good stuff! Working out in 30-45 minutes or so, but I've already mixed mine up. Gotta say the flavor is kinda eh to me. 8oz. was too strong and terrible. 16oz. tastes pretty good, but it still feels too light to me. I'm thinking ~12oz. or so would be my flavor sweet spot with it.

yeah, 20oz was definitely pretty weak flavor wise. I would rather over-liquid and then dial down as needed. So tomorrow 16, then 12 if need be

I think 10 oz of water is about my go to. I always put in 2 scoops to make a full shaker's worth.

Good to know! Maybe I'll decrease to only using on lifting days but increase to 2 scoops per workout and a full shaker.
