Sumo feels all kinds of wrong to me. To be fair, I've only tried it once.

Head and shoulders were both too far forward. I have an issue with raising my hips/butt too early lately. I'm thinking it just needs to be trained more. I do have a video but a lot of it is not pretty.

Saturday 14th December

As you can see from the photo above, today was the strongman/woman day at the gym I go to occasionally.

We started off with a 30m yoke walk. Warmed up with the yoke which weighs 100kg. I used 130kg all up for that with a time of 37secs. I've never touched a yoke before but holy hell that was fun!

Farmer's carry next with 64kg in each hand for the same distance. I got the same time. Did a warm up with just the handles. They weigh 20kg each. Then another warmup with 20kg on each handle.

We then did a 15m sled pull. The sled weighs something around 50-60kg and we had 60kg of plates on it. Warmed up with just the sled for one round also.

Next was the Ute/truck pull. Ford f150 laden with tool boxes. The car park has a slight hill and I needed a wee bit of help when i hit the hill but given it weighs around 3tonnes all up, I'm pretty happy!

Then I had a cider and a lot of food!

So so so much fun!

Sunday 15th December

Meant to be a rest day but family members wanted to gym so I can't turn that down. I was/am totally spent from yesterday.

Curcuit x 3
Bear complex (clean, front squat, press, back squat, press, seven times)
Rowing machine
Punching bag work
Crunches/ab station

It took us about twenty minutes. The were three of us. We rowed a km each.

Then I stretched and made weird noises as my muscles remembered what I made them do yesterday.

Great work! On the sumo's I've noticed my hips raise if I fire my quads first. If you focus on firing glutes first and keeping your chest up it helps. I'm definitely not a huge puller or anything, but any tips for you to try helps. I like sumo and I've found training both ways helps my squats and everything in general.

Keep up the hard work.

Thursday 19th December

I've taken a few days off because work has been insane and I've driven around 1000km since my last post.

Squats
2 x 8 x 20kg
6 x 40kg
6 x 50kg
3 x 6 x 52.5kg

Narrow stance
4 x 8 x 40kg

Leg curl superset leg press
3 x 20 (30kg curl 80kg press)

Calf raise
4 x 10 60kg

Leg extension
3 x 10 30kg

Stretched.

It's really hot. Really, really hot.

Going to a Kickboxing based cardio class tonight. That lasts for an hour.

EDIT: cardio class was hell. Bearing in mind it's currently 30C;

We warmed up with a run and a tonne of jumping jacks and air punches.

Then we did 12 days of Christmas;

1 burpee
2 push ups with an arm raise each side so really 4 push ups
3 lunges (each side)
4 skater jumps (each side)
5 push ups
6 squat jumps
7 crunches
8 mountain climbers (each side)
9 sit ups
10 jumping jacks
11 ski jumps
12 box jumps

So you start with a burpee and then do the second one and the a burpee and so on and so on.

Then we did a lot of bag work.

I'm dripping in sweat but goodness, I feel awesome!

Aiming for two sessions a day while I'm on holidays. Gotta get back into mornings.
