Sometimes, investing in a really good book is better than investing in several mediocre ones and if it's going to be made use of time and again, then it's well worth getting.

Kind of an old thread but I see the OP was interested in classic physiques. Just a wild guess but if you're interested in classic physiques, you might not want to take advice from a modern day lifter who is PED enhanced (like Arnold).

I saw the OP was a fan of Reeves, and the Reeves book is a great book, called Building the Classic physique, is a great reference though most people here would not recommend following the routine in that book verbatim.

Thanks for the recommendation, Ill check it out

as for the Arnold book, there was some good info, but the training 6 days a week is not possible for me long term, but it had some great info on technique & nutrition.

Six days a week is not possible for any trainee long term, IMO, Arnold included.

I mean, do you really think he maintained that kind of training schedule when he got into acting and politics? I have my doubts.

Now that I'm a little older, and thinking of training as a life-long endeavor, those kinds of routines just strike me as total insanity.

I'm far from an expert, but others with far more experience than I recommend 3-4 days a week- for longevity and sustainability at least.

For the record, I do know a couple of guys in their 50s who work out at my gym 5 days a week and they are stronger than I, so that's fine too.

But I know hardly anyone who works out more than 5 days a week and stays with it.
