Default How offten and how bad?

I just had the worst workout in my life today, it was so bad I feel disgusted with myself.

I have had bad workouts and their fairly predictable, maybe every 3rd or 4th week I wont do as well as I expect of myself. I wont get the reps I'm expecting on my last set or two in an exercise and my motivation will be low. This is different, I was motivated ready and not making any big jumps today and I was not hitting reps on my first sets and had too drop the lbs down and it was still heavy, hard to get a lockout on over head DB presses. Bench felt like I was shooting for 3x3 and it was a 3x8 day on bench.

Anyone have days like this?

Everyone has rough days. Could be any number of factors (sleep, diet, stress, general recovery and fatigue).
Over time you learn not to stress on it so much and just try it again next week.
If for some reason you do not bounce back and all your workouts for the next week or so begin to suffer, then you may have some sort of issue. At that point a deload or week off may be something to consider. Or an examination of your diet and recovery.

Right now though, move on and look forward to your next session. Don't even give it a second thought IMO.

Usually after a crappy session, the next one is kick ass!

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Rest up, come back in a few days and kill it. It happens.

They happen. You have typical sessions, then some fairly often that are a little bit more or less kickass than usual. And occasionally, you'll have one that's amazingly awesome... or on the other hand, teh total suck.

Just part of life. No big deal.

.. However, if they're all sucking badly, for a while, then this should be telling you something. Could be diet, sleep, attitude, whatever.

I expect workouts like this once a month. I've learned to ignore the down days because up days always follow.

wow every month, I'm still at a beginner level so I guess I'm just not seeing them. My bench is 240 1rm and my DL is 305 1RM at 196 BW so I believe I have a long way too go. I could hardly sleep last night it bothered me so bad lol. Thanks for the heads up on bad days guys.
