I have never worn it for benching, seen a few guys in the gym doing it but for me it just does not feel necessary.

In my experience the most benefits of a belt on bench are for geared lifters locking down the bench shirt.

Although I found when I was learning my arch (4-6" high) and it was uncomfortable, using a belt helped alleviate the strain on my back and allowed me to get just a bit more tight.

Wear it. I used to never wear one but if you push your belly into it it makes a diffrence on how tight you are on the bench. Give it a try.

Right now, bench is the ONLY lift I use a belt on. It helps me on my arch and keeping tight. Pretty sure it is personal preference just as it is on other lifts. Try it. If you like it use it. If you don't, well don't use it haha
