Thanks, Steve. I will say this, doubles and triples are MUCH easier for me mentally. After I do that first rep of five, it seems like the next four might as well be 40, lol.

11/11/13-Chest day- First day of my 6 month progress check. The goals in my sig are goals that I wanted to reach by the time I was 44. That is 6 years away. I thought that would be a reasonable amount of time to hit these goals. I am 20lbs away from my bench press goal as of today! Looks like I am gonna have to raise that number.

Bench press

Bar x 10, 10
135 x 8
185 x 5
205 x 3
225 x 3
245 x 5- I did not feel as though I was getting warmed up very well at this point so I did 5 reps to get the blood flowing a little better.
265 x 1
285 x 1
305 x 1
315 x 1
325 x 1-My wife and oldest daughter were spotting me on this one. There was a slight miscommunication and they grabbed the bar right at the end of the rep. Thankfully, I was able to get 330 so there wouldn't be any doubts.
330 x 1- I stopped here. It was doubtful that I would be able to go any heavier. With my wife and daughter spotting me, I didn't want to push my luck.

incline bench press- I was supposed to just do a regular workout on these, but I shortened my workout to get my wife and daughter back home before they got too bored, so this ended up being sort of a max effort.
135 x 8
185 x 5
225 x 5
245 x 3
255 x 2
275 x 1-This was extremely easy. I had a lot more left, but I stopped it here due to the time constraints. Besides, this is just an accessory exercise to the bench press, it won't be measured in a competition

Close grip bench press
135 x 10
185 x 5, 5, 5

Vid for 330 x 1

11/13/13- I have only been training my deadlift for a month or so, but I still did a max day to see where I stand at the 6 month point.

Deadlift
bar x 10, 10
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x 1
275 x 1
315 x 1
335 x 1
350 x 1- I'm happy with this. At least my deadlift now surpasses my bench press

DB rows
35 x 8
40 x 6
45 x 5
60 x 5, 5
70 x 5, 5
80 x 5

T-bar rows
45 x 10
90 x 8
135 x 5, 5, 5

11/16/13- shoulders- for some reason, I was much weaker on BB presses today than I was last week. Don't know why.

Seated military presses
55 x 15, 10
95 x 8
135 x 6
155 x 5
185 x 3
155 x 5
155 x 5
165 x 5
175 x 5
185 x 5

Seated DB presses
50 x 10
60 x 8
70 x 8

DB upright rows
15 x 12
20 x 12
25 x 10
30 x 8
35 x 8
40 x 8

Power shrugs- I am taking a page out of Steve's book, but have to take smaller steps because I am a weakling. I liked these much better than my usual "controlled" DB shrugs. I can already feel it in my traps. Suhweet!
135 x 12
185 x 12
205 x 8
225 x 8
275 x 8
315 x 8-Had to use straps. I have a girly grip.

Tomorrow is leg day. I'm looking forward to it.

Nice work. I have noticed presses don't rise at the same time. Bench will help OH eventually and vice versa, but hardly ever in the same week.

Good stuff. Maybe make some short term goals on the way to those long term goals! You'll hit most of those sooner than you think.

Thanks, Mike! I was actually weaker today than i was last week. I was able to get 5 sets of 5 at 185 on my ohp last week, but I only got 3 reps when i got to 185 this week. I was able to work back up to it after backing off some, though. Maybe it was just an off day. As you suggest, I am doing the ohp to help out with my bench press (hopefully).

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. It is greatly appreciated.

11/17/13- leg day- I haven't felt very good today. Feels like I might have a stomach virus coming on. it showed in my workout. I was drained again and unable, for the second week in a row, to complete all of my squat sets. I didn't even have enough left to hit the hip sled. It was all I could do to unload the bar after I had finished. I hope this doesn't carry over to tomorrow's workout.

Squats
warmups
Bar x 10, 10
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 3
315 x 1
335 x 1

Work sets
355 x 5
360 x 5
365 x 5
365 x 5

Thanks, WildBill! I'm trying to be consistent with it. It seems to be working so far.

11/18/13- Yesterday. Work schedule at my new job is getting a little hectic, so I'm a day behind. Was chest day. I have had something akin to mild food poisoning for the last couple of days and just haven't felt very smurfy. That, combined with some schedule limitations left me just doing the basics yesterday. My body is also starting to give me some signs that it is time to go ahead and take that deload week or two I debated on taking a couple of months back. (joints hurting, trouble concentrating on my workout, lack of motivation for certain workouts, etc).

Bench press
bar x 10
135 x 8
225 x 10
225 x 10
245 x 8
245 x 6

Close grip bench press
135 x 12, 12, 12, 12
