If next week follows suit, I may not even be able to bench press 315. I think it may be my choice of accessory exercises and/or the serious decrease in the volume of my bench workout.

If I had to nail it down, I think it is most likely my choice of accessory exercises. I used to do 3 pressing exercises (flat, incline, and machine presses) then do some triceps stuff separately. When I started this plan I did flat bench as my core lift combined with a choice of incline presses, rack bench presses and cgbp for accessory work (I picked 2 of the three). I think I need to move the cgbp's to my shoulder/arm day and just do the exercises I used today-flat bench, paused bench, and incline bench.

I am more than happy with my long term progress on bench. It's just the decrease in strength over the last two weeks that has me concerned.

Waaaaaaay behind on my workouts. Work and a malfunctioning CPAP machine have combined to cause me great difficulty. I have the CPAP machine straightened out and have a short 8 hour day tomorrow so, hopefully, I can at least get a deadlift workout in.

12/22/13- Finally got around to getting a workout in. Was going to combine a couple and get in dl, shoulders, and arms, but still didn't have enough time. I even had half a day off today, lol.

Deadlifts today: Did more reps on my warmups to try and work on my "three stage heave" as Hunterace put it. I am hoping that more repetition of the movement will result in better form. I believe part of the problem was the fact that I was trying to swing the bar around my knees. I've got to practice straightening my legs first. Old habits die hard, though ("Use your legs, not your back"). on the bright side, my grip is slowly improving. I still have a girly grip, though.

Warmups
bar x 15
135 x 10
185 x 8
225 x 5
275 x 3
315 x 3

work sets
350 x 3
375 x 2- PR!!! Good lift.
405 x 1-Not quite a pr. I got it, but hitched it. I counted it for a gym lift, but would not have made the cut in a meet.

BTB's power shrugs
135 x 15
185 x 15
225 x 15
275 x 15
315 x 8, 8, 8 - first two sets were WITHOUT straps. This is a first for "girly grip man".

That's all I was able to fit in today. Got my CPAP issues straightened out, so my motivation and energy should be returning. Felt much better today than I have in a few weeks.

My Christmas presents this year. A new stock for one of my rifles and, more importantly, some new Chuck Taylors for deadlifting! Suhweet! My kids had a mess in the floor, so the Hello Kitty blanket was my backdrop, lol.

Hello Kitty blanket pairs up nicely with a "girly" grip haha

Nice work Dawg! Congratz on the PR, and those BtB shrugs will definitely improve your grip!

Thanks, KD! You know, they DO go together pretty well, lol. I hadn't even thought about that. Come to think of it, I bet if I bought some pink lifting straps I would be more motivated to work on my grip. NO dude wants to have to break out pink lifting straps at the gym.
