Nice work Mike. I remember reading the reviews Korte on the old deepsquatter forum and one of the trends was that it didnt do much for peoples bench. Why dont you try a 90% single (something like 245) before you do your volume work once a week? This will let you know how your strength is holding up without draining you and will set you up for the volume after.

Did not know that. Good stuff.

Thanks! I agree that it doesn't tax your bench very much, Markie and Ravi came up with a plan to boost it 5-15 lbs as you went along, but I'm sticking with the baseline and running it exactly as written right now to see what happens.

That said, I think the way to do this program is to do all the reps paused. It is way too easy if you do them touch and go. So, some of those other people might have been doing them TnG which might be why they felt bench was not moving much.

I do like your idea about a heavy single before reps though. That will be one of the things I will try if I don't see a decent jump in my bench this time around. Thanks.

We'll see how this plays out, but I love the way this is working so far. I feel worked, but not mentally drained as the weights aren't heavy enough to require me to really gear up my mind to hit them. I think saving that mental focus for those multiple heavy singles to come will be extremely helpful for me in the long run.

I also just feel a lot more well rounded and sort of athletic which is actually why I started lifting in the first place. I'm not so beat down like I was after a really heavy squat day that I could barely go up and down stairs, or could barely pick up my daughter after a heavy deadlift day.

I really feel good and able to move around and do normal daily things much easier than I did after hammering one lift into the ground one day a week.

We'll see though. Test week will be the proof in the pudding. If I don't hit a 400 squat or a 300 bench or a 405 deadlift, then that's that. I'll keep tis routine in the rotation, but will move on to something else to make sure I hit my goals.

Still, interesting thoughts. Fire away any time as it's very helpful. Thanks.

Haha - I live for lifting on the weekends - family usually sleeps in anyway while I am lifting with the crew. I used to have a soreness issue after lifting tho, preventing me from getting much done after lifting, which usually pissed of the wife. Ark 3 tho has been a godsend in that department tho and is now allowing me to get lots done after lifting.

Good to see things rolling right along so well.

Thanks fellas! Lifting ground to a halt this week, though. Got a wicked sinus and ear infection that knocked me for a loop this week. Ear hurt so bad, I could barely eat as the pain radiated into my jaw, much less do any lifting. I've been on antibiotics since Monday and light is showing at the end of the tunnel. There you go. Life happens. Seems like the beginning of every school year I get something, so hopefully my fall illness is out of the way now.

I'm just going to write off this week and move it to next week. I don't think I need to re-do last week or anything like that. I'm pretty sure I'll be good for the weights expected this week.

Hopefully, a little refresher session Friday, then back in business next week. We'll see.
