Arrow Creatine - To load or not to load? That, is the question

I have used creatine in the past but I stopped a few weeks ago (traveling). I am starting back, this week.

I saw good results on 7 grams a day of monohydrate powder & I have never pre - loaded. (20 grams per day for 5 days or such)

Is there any advantage to loading ?

Is the ocassional lay off recommended?

Are the pills as effective as the powder?

I am sure this gets asked a lot .... but I figured, it would not hurt to ask again.

I am sure if you hunt long enough you can find some internet guru who recommends lay offs.

Pills are often easier, effectiveness is seen over time, so I would guess there is little difference.

Not asking is worse than asking. Not asking you never get your answer.

I stopped taking it for like a couple weeks now just because I forgot to take it I think I'll get back on it. Last time I didn't load and felt great, this time I probably won't either. I just take the powder because it's easier for me but I don't see why pills aren't as effective.

there's no negative feedback going on from introducing this creatine to your body so there's no reason you should ever 'cycle off' creatine. The only reason people 'cycle' creatine is probably because someone thought because it makes sense for steroids it must also make sense for creatine.

Isn't the agurment usually that cycling off periodically allows the body to re adjust ATP levels and benefit (later ) from adding creatine back into your diet ?

Not a matter of negative affects but rather tolerance levels ? Just making conversation - thanks for the reply

When I say negative feedback that is what I mean, a 'tolerance'. Negative feedback would be your body reacting to the higher creatine concentrations and lowering production of something (you say ATP for example), but there is no such mechanic in the human body. That's why you don't build a tolerance for creatine and you can happily be 'on creatine' (hate how that makes it sound like it's a damn steroid lol) for your entire life just fine.

As I said I think people just naturally assume this is how it works for every substance because this is how it works for a lot of performance enhancing drugs. Introduce exogenous testosterone to your body, testosterone production is halted/slowed down (negative feedback).

Lay offs: personal choice...if you are trying to cut some water weight you could.
We don't cycle vitamins and minerals, why cycle creatine if everything is going well?

Creatine = no loading phase, no cycling and it is NOT time sensitive..meaning you can take it pre, intra, post, morning, night or whenever. Just most people like to add it with there pre or post mix and be done with it. As far as taking a week or two off here and there, personal preference. Now as for pill form creatine such as kre-alkalyn or what not, for some its more convenient and as for myself I do not hold any water when taking KA, where as with a powder CM I tend to hold more water, all personal preference though.

There is no reason to load as it only saturates you faster. 7g a day is high stick to 5g.
