I of course am liking the squats for warm-ups! 440 single is really sweet. I didn't know you have access to a powerlifting gym. No crew there?

Thanks guys! The powerlifting gym is in Boston proper and I haven't actually been there yet, but I'll eventually be going there more and more. My good friend I lift with competes geared and he obviously can't train with his gear at my college gym. Just by looking at the Facebook page, it looks like they have a really solid group of people there.


In other news, I was unable to bench yesterday. I wasn't able to keep my left elbow tucked at 175 and called it a day. Through my own self diagnosis and the diagnosis of one of the personal trainers, I'm pretty sure it's an acute rotator cuff strain. I'm very optimistic, however, and plan to do lots of rotator cuff work in the upcoming week as I take a break from pressing. Oh, and I have heavy squats coming up this afternoon

Notes: Pretty solid session today. I was originally going to do 325x3 for 3 sets, but I absolutely killed the second set and tried to beat my training partner's PR of 345x3 that he set last Friday. My lower back was pretty toasted after all the prior reps so I decided after the second rep to rack the weight instead of risking injury or failure. I'm feeling good and know that I will be PRing in the squat in my next meet in 4 weeks.

Tough luck about the rotator cuff issue Henry. No physio required? At any rate, I sure hopes it sorts out quickly for you.

Squats and the numbers looking fine! Good call on that 3rd rep - no need to take any risks outside of a meet. We for sure know now you never ego train haha!

Thanks guys! Honestly, the discomfort is very acute in my shoulder, so unless the pain persists for another week I think I'll be fine with seeking medical advice. And since squats cure cancer I figure that a minor rotator cuff issue will be easy to fix relatively speaking

unhappy with speed so took two minutes off...

Lots of rotator cuff/light back work.

Notes: The weight's definitely starting to get a lot heavier, but my mind wasn't in it for all the reps today. With that said, there were a few that absolutely flew. The rotator cuff is feeling a lot better and I think I'll be okay to return to some light pressing on Sunday
