Default What Program?

For the entire time i have lifted weights it has been by instinct and for a little linear progression. I now feel as a I get stronger I need more structure. What would be a good program for powerlifting that involves high frequency training.

Give us a better idea of what you've been doing and what seems to work best for you. There is no specific "powerlifting" routine, it's more about what fits the individual and what they will apply themselves to with vigor.

I have done been doing full body 3 day a week for the past 2 months. squatting 3 times a week benching twice and deadlifting once. I usually would try to set some type of pr with a weight or sets or reps every workout.

Lots of guys here use a frequency type training, but im too fat for that haha. I am sure someone can give you some sound advice.

I am a linear periodization guy

Thanks i would be open to any type of training so maybe linear prioritization would be an option.

I have had great success in the past doing just what you have been doing and attempting new PRs every other week or so, but adding in speed work as well. If you are still making good progress, there isnt much reason to do anything different.

I am only 17 so I do not want to go over the top and get injured because of the frequent pr's. I guess my new question is how often can you get gym pr's without overreaching?

Overreaching is what you want, but be careful not to overtrain. It takes a lot more than you think it does to overtrain, especially at 17. If you are constantly sore and not making any progress or getting weaker, then you are probably overtrained. Rest is just as important as lifting.

What I am saying as far as the programming deal is that after only a year of training, you should still be making great progress on just about any program.

Try going for a PR on each lift once a month to start, and see how it feels. You can adjust from there. Just keep in mind that you can't always have the best program right now.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Goals take time to realize. Have patience and be consistent and you will realize them.
