Question How can a 10mm or 13mm belt help me?

So currently I have been using this belt >


ever since I started working out about 2 years ago. I was wondering how would a 10mm or 13mm Inzer belt help me in my lifting journey? Also what thickness is my belt??

Lifting belts hold your guts in, support your lower back and give you confidence. Fack the Harbinger, no offense, but it's a piece of shit and doesn't offer much protection. Along with being stiff and uncomfortable I'm sure. Also, I prefer 13mm. Thicker belts give more of aid. However I'm only 5'11" 185 pounds. I've heard some of the more robust people complain about thicker belts getting in the way on some lifts, so keep that in mind. Personally my 13mm belt is used comfortably on all lifts.

This is what I use. It's dear to my heart. Get one of these, it's worth every penny!!!

lol I'm not even sure my belt has been working because it seems every weight I use to deadlift with it I can take off the belt and still do the heavy weights and want fill a difference. That's why I'm so confused about getting a better belt.

Get a quality belt. As long as you are performing the lifts properly their will most certainly be a noticeable difference in how much you can lift.

Also, I'd suggest getting single prong. They are easier to tighten and remove.

A good quality belt will last you a decade or two of abuse. I prefer the Inzer 10mm or 13mm. I've had the two prong 10mm for about 10 years and it's great. Next I'll go with the 13mm single prong for sure. The belt you're currently using looks to be tapered (bigger in the back and smaller in the front) which isn't allowed in most powerlifting feds so personally it'd be a no-go for me.

It's important to realise when using a belt that the belt doesn't automatically give you any protection. It provides you with a way to keep your core tighter by pressing your abdomen against the belt, but will NOT keep your lower back from rounding or anything like that. You will be able to lift more weight as a result of increased core stability but don't think you can go lift weights too heavy for you, because you WILL injure yourself.

I haven't used my belt in months. At first it felt really weird and I had to fight the urge to put it on. I think it was like a safety blanket for me. Now, I hardly miss it at all. But I keep it around, when I start using maximal weights again I'll probably bring it out of retirement.

I wear my belt fairly loose. Before I start a lift, I take a big belly breath and push my abs out against the belt. This tightens the belt across my back and assures that I've properly braced myself. You can only push your abs out if you have a belt that doesn't taper in the front. I have a Toro lever belt, and now that it's broken in I like it quite a bit.
