Default Deadlift help!

What's up guys and gals!

So i've been bodybuilding for about 4 years now, and recently started to take an interest in more of a powerlifting style training, making some great strength gains.

Although when it comes to dead lifts, the place i really struggle is getting it off the floor, the initial part of the lift is my weak point. I've never failed a rep which i've managed to get of the floor... Unlike many over lifts which stick mid way or near their lock out.

I'm wondering what i can do to work on this? The only thing i could think of is deficit deads?

Any kinda help or thoughts would be much appreciated!

Cheeerrrs.

The best way to help you is...if you post a video. But basically you need ck your form, leverage and focus in push the floor away from you instead of lift the weight from the ground. Try conventional and sumo and use what best suit to you body. A video is a must in order for us to make a better judgment. Luck!!!

Just wanted to know your strength level to see if id be of any use but since you have a stronger dead lift then me i doubt i will be :P More then likely people will want a video, or you could post this question in "Q&A with BBOD" thread where he will defiantly give a helpful answer.

There was a point when that was true for me as well. If I could get it off the ground I could finish the lift. That changed as the weights got heavier.

All I can tell you is to make sure you reset between every rep. That will help your strength off the ground more than anything else. Deficit deads won't really do too much to help you out there. The angle is different, so you'll actually get better by just doing them from the ground for now.

I've found that deficit deads actually help more with the lockout because you have to work a lot harder before you get there.

Deficits do help but only at 1-2" any more than that and your form changes. Other than that you have to figure out what type of puller you are. Back or legs? Video will help here. Until then nobody can help much.
