Foam rolling your upper back is good for thoracic mobility and stuff.

However...in my case the lower back thing was a bad idea. It's like taking a club and whacking yourself in the lower back: the tissue (in my case) is already sensitive. Plus, I've hurt myself there before so it was an unnecessary risk.

Thank you. I am DL only guy but I also do Front Squats and OHP... I'm just getting back to it after the injury so being conservative is the name of the game at the moment

Helping

When we put ourselves on a pedestal and say that we can show others, we are in danger of exalting ourselves. If we desire to help, we must be humble. We cannot teach from a height, but only eye to eye. Otherwise we are just talking and pleasing ourselves.

We are always in danger of preaching, instead of teaching. That is the hard part of being us. Remember, only a person who does not truly understand those he wishes to reach, will preach. A rich man cannot teach a poor man to live.

You've seen a man raging, and thumping his fist at the stupidity of others. Why can't others see what he sees? Wrong question. The question is, why can't he see what they see? If he could see, then he wouldn't be angry. You cannot help everybody. But you can never help anyone while judging them, and exalting yourself.

Pointing out the bad behavior of others is not teaching, it is scolding.

- Eric Troy

What a great post.... As someone who helps people get strong: I think this is a reminder.

Just looked over the log. You deadlift 3x a week? Wow. What's your favorite deadlift assistance? Interesting quotes and such. Sorry to hear about the foam roll thing, sounds like there was more going on than a normal tight sore foam rolled lower back. Will be watching.

I Deadlift 2x a week. There's nothing wrong with 3x but I only do it 2x.

I don't have a DL assistance per se... my template and routine are posted here: http://muscleandbrawn.com/forums/tra...tml#post371342

Yeah it was a bad idea on the foam rolling bit.... It cost me a lot. Tissue damage is a pain.

Thanks for subscribing!

DEADLIFT Training - Mesocycle 58 Week 2

Kanishk and I pulled some weights this Sunday….it was a very rainy and depressing day but the workout was STELLAR!

Ankle Mobility
X-Band Walks
Overhead Squats

Deadlifts Honeymoon Period:
45 x 5

205 x 1
215 x 1
225 x 3
235 x 2
245 x 1
255 x 1
265 x 1
275 x 2
285 x 1
295 x 2
305 x 1
315 x 2
325 x 1
335 x 1
345 x 1
355 x 2
365 x 1
375 x 1
385 x 1
395 x 1
405 x 1
415 x 1

Deadlifts Honeymoon Period Modified:
425 x 4 x 8

Ridiculous volume and workload on the whole. I'm very pleased. Next week we shall bridge the distance to 455 and hold it for a while as I get my strength back. For the first time in I don't know so long I've had weeks and weeks of Deadlift sessions where I've truly truly enjoyed just Deadlifting. The race to 515? Fuck that… it will happen when it has to happen. It's taken me a while to embrace Eric's philosophy on just immersing myself in the love of the process but I'm there now. I've had to change my set-up I've had to change the way I've approached the bar even…. it's a different beast right now.

WEIGHTED PULL-UPS & STEP-UPS Training - Mesocycle 58 Week 2

Trained with my buddy Yuvraj today and he worked up his Deadlift to 405 x 1 which is a huge PR for him! Major props!

Weighted Pull-ups:
+70 x 2
+45 x 5
+70 x 2
+45 x 5
+70 x 2
+45 x 4
+80 x 1
+45 x 2
BW x 10
BW x 10
I added a rep to the +45 set (2nd one) so I'm very pleased. The volume is building up. I had a very difficult time gripping the bar though..my calluses were hurting mightily.

Step-Ups:
35 x 9 x 5
NP
Same as last week. Did not feel like working up.
