The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

This weekend at the 2014 Dallas Europa I competed in ISAA submasters 275. Weighed in at 268. Squats went well on first 2 attempts (463 and 485) was planning on going for 501 for third but 485 was so fast I bumped 3rd attempt to 518 and missed about half way up. All three benches went great (303, 314, and 325). Deads were awesome (529, 551, and 573). Squats were raw with belt and knee wraps, bench was just wrist wraps, and deads were belt. Awesome meet, had a great time, 35 lb squat pr, 22 lb bench pr, and 28 lb deadlift pr.

On 5/17/14 I competed in the 2014 Upstate Push/Pull Showdown in Greenville, SC to benefit breast cancer research. It was my first competition. I came in 1st in the SHW open division, but was the only SHW competitor who did the full meet. It was a great experience with some great folks. I am definitely hooked on competing now. I had a total of 775lbs (350 bench and 425 dl).

It was a while ago, but this was my first meet. August 3, 2013. I had only been lifting for 8 months.



Ended up with 1265 @ 258.

I'm going back to this same meet in a couple months, about 20 lbs heavier. I'm hoping to hit 1400, although doing so may cause me to pop a blood vessel, or poop myself.... I think realistically I'll end up around 1350-1375.
