Steve, probably not much I can say to make you feel better. But once the dust settles a bit, I pray that you will be able to look at this experience and find lessons not only about powerlifting, but lessons about life and yourself as a person. I have faith that what seems like a let down right now, will have a positive impact on you in some way, some how.

Anyway, hang in there buddy. When it's all said and done, you have helped a lot of us here with an important part of our life. I doubt anyone is ever going to look back on this time and say "do you remember when steve shaw had a bad meet". No, people are going to say "Steve shaw is a strong mofo who taught a lot of us and wasn't a dick to people."

Very sorry to hear that things didn't work out on the day.

But all the muscle and strength you've built up isn't going anywhere...it's still there waiting for another meet.

Maybe take a rest, regroup, and do a local no-pressure meet just to get your confidence back?

No reason to be devestated. You wont be the first or last to bomb at a meet. You competed and things didnt go your way. Your a tough competitor, who will learn from it and do better next time.
I want to throw something out there for your next training cycle because I am sure your already thinking about it. You used chains almost the entire cycle and counted them the same as straight weight. I have done the same thing in the past and was always suprised at how much I overestimated what I could really do with straight weight. I am sure there were alot of diffrent things that contributed to the bomb but that is something to consider.

On the day, things didn't fall in your favour...no end of times have people said that a meet is not the same as an ordinary workout day, you can't choose when to lift or to postpone a lift, if you're having a bad day...nor can you wait until you feel "ready" before lifting but have to be there when called out.

I think everyone can understand, to as much of a degree as possible without having competed, the being down, it wouldn't be normal if you weren't.

Take a couple of days, work out how you want to progress (same or new goal) and get back at it.
