Tuesday

Sweating like the proverbial pig today.

Bent over rows

An exercise I never really make any progress on, despite doing it all the bloody time. It's really built my lower lats up though.

60 (132) X 5
60 (132) X 5
90 (198) X 12
90 (198) X 11
90 (198) X 12
90 (198) X 12

Military Press

Woo-hoo, a small rep PB today. But the set was a grinder and took it out of me. Could only get 5 on the second set! Both sets to absolute failure.

50 (110) X 2
60 (132) X 2
70 (154) X 2
82.5 (182) X 9 PR
82.5 (182) X 5
60 (132) X 12

Barbell Curls

I wasn't going to win any prizes for form on these.

60 (132) X 4
60 (132) X 4
60 (132) X 4
60 (132) X 3

Solid work. You seem to have hit a purple patch with overhead presses.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Thanks Ravi, Pratik, Marvin.

Thursday

Just a little session today with some low rep work.

Squats

Losing some weight and waist size now, and squats are getting harder.

60 (132) X 5
100 (221) X 5
140 (308) X 3
Belt on
160 (353) X 3
170 (375) X 3
180 (397) X 2
182.5 (403) X 2
160 (353) X 6

Miltary Press

The squats seemed to take forever, so less time left for these.

60 (132) X 3
60 (132) X 3
70 (154) X 2
80 (176) X 2
Belt on
85 (187) X 2
87.5 (192) X 2
90 (198) X 2
92.5 (203) x 2
97.5 (215) X 1
80 (176) X 7

Thanks Marvin, Ravi

Friday

30 minutes uphill walking. Treadmill informs me it was 283 m ascent (900 ft), which is challenging for a short old fatty like me.

Saturday

Not much volume but pushing hard today, with all maximum effort sets.

Bench Press

Sometimes when you do your warm up sets, you can tell you're going to have a good top set. 140 X 6 with no spotter is good for me. I knew I wouldn't replicate that and lowered the weight for another good set.

60 (132) X 5
100 (221) X 5
120 (265) X 3
140 (308) X 6
120 (265) X 11

Chest Press machine - myoreps

114kg x 6 + 2 + 2 + 2

Overhead Press

It was immediately apparent that this was a mistake as my delts were fried from benching. reps were poor throughout.

60 (132) X 2
70 (154) X 2
80 (176) X 5
82.5 (181) X 4 [I did nine with this weight a few days back]
70 (154) X 10

Abandoned in favour of some accessory work.

DB laterals

14 (31s) x 15
16 (35s) X 10

Dips

Quite pleased with progress on these recently.

Bodyweight + 15 (33) X 20
Bodyweight + 15 (33) X 12
