Thanks Marvin, Ravi.

Saturday

Tough session today. It's the squats. I find even these piddly poundages quite taxing with higher reps.

Strength has ratcheted up nicely. Bench is up 10kg from this session 8-10 days ago.

Bench Press

60 (132) X 5
60 (132) X 5
110 (242) X 5
115 (253) X 5
120 (264) X 5
125 (275) X 5
130 (286) X 5

Standing military press

These were flying up today, so I hope that will translate into progress with heavier weights

60 (132) X 10
60 (132) X 10
60 (132) X 10
60 (132) X 10
60 (132) X 8

T-bar rows

70 (154) X 10
70 (154) X 10
70 (154) X 10
70 (154) X 10
70 (154) X 10

Squats - no belt

Dropped the reps down to sets of ten. It's the breathing that kills me, the actual weight isn't a problem.

70 (154) X 10
80 (176) X 10
90 (198) X 10
100 (221) X 10
110 (242) X 10

Hi Tannhauser
Can you expain me why are you training like that (nothing agressive) ?
I don't understand why you are using so differents rep ranges in your workouts, and sometime mixing 5rep with 10rep on a other lift in a signle workout.

Maybe you're training on experience/feeling, for pleasure and don't have enough time to progress ?

Hi Joss

My goals at the moment are to slowly recover strength after not training much for a few months. But also, I haven't done anything bodybuilder-ish for many years and just wanted to have a bit of fun with that.

So at the moment I'm experimenting with the following:

1. Heavy day - sets of three
2. Medium day - sets of six
3. Light day - sets of ten.
4. Extra bodybuilding day - rest-pause/drop-set training.

However, chest is an exception, because I'm only benching once every four sessions so I want to go a little bit heavier.

The original idea was to train about five times a week on this rotation, but I'm not recovering fast enough to allow that.

Also: over the last five years all my emphasis has been on lower body training. But I just want to try something different and so I'm prioritising shoulders, back and biceps

Ok understood,
That's clearly for experienced lifters, you are the perfect opposite of me, big wheels and "weak" shoulders ;-)
I'm aso recovering from a few month of no consistent training. Good luck ! I'll encourage you .

PS. Just a question do you speak french, because you have written "creatine, ET C'EST TOUT" in your favorite supplement.

Thanks Steve.

Tuesday

V. frustrating day at work today, but a good session at the gym.

Military Press

I didn't really think I would get sets of six on this, as it's a 5kg jump from last session, which is a lot on militaries. But I was angry and feeling strong.

60 (132) x 3
80 (176) X 6
80 (176) X 6
80 (176) X 6
80 (176) X 4

Front squats

Chickened out of the six rep sets on fronties, but tried a bit more weight. But the bar wasn't really sitting right today and I didn't push for a 140 X 3.

60 (132) X 3
60 (132) X 3
100 (221) X 3
110 (242) X 3
Belt on
120 (264) X 3
130 (286) X 3

Bent over rows

These must be good for me, because I hate them.

60 (132) X 6
60 (132) X 6
100 (221) X 6
105 (232) X 6
105 (232) X 6
105 (232) X 6

Barbell curls

Biceps were tired after rows.

52.5 (115) X 6
52.5 (115) X 6
52.5 (115) X 5
52.5 (115) X 5
