Friday

Very tired today following a 63 hour work week, and eating rubbish food. But thought I'd give it a try anyway, and it turned out to be a good session.

Pull ups

Gave these a go without added weight. It didn't seem to make much difference to the reps.

Bodyweight X 8
Bodyweight X 8
Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 7
Bodyweight X 6

T bar Yates rows

This is a funny T bar where you are forced to stand almost vertically. I thought I would be using about 150kg on it, but 70ky was plenty. Good exercise - I could really feel it in my biceps and traps.

70 (154) X 6
70 (154) X 6
70 (154) X 6
70 (154) X 6
70 (154) X 6

Low cable face pulls

Bloody silly, uncomfortable exercise. They're not stopping in the routine much longer.

30 (66) X 8
30 (66) X 8

Bench Press

No one around again today. Very pleased with my top set of 130 X 7.

100 (221) X 5
120 (264) X 7
125 (275) X 7
130 (286) X 7

Incline DB press

34 (72) X 10
34 (72) X 10
34 (72) X 10

Great session man. Wouldn't most people do the accessory work after benching?

Thanks.

I try to leave benching as late as possible. It's in the hope someone else will arrive in the gym, in case I get stuck under the bar.

Thanks Steve

Wednesday

Lifting is a funny old game. Work is horrible at the moment, I'm dog-tired, I'm living off lentils and cereal, my book has been rejected by yet another agent, and I haven't been getting to the gym regularly.

Went in today expecting nothing and pulled two lifetime rep PBs on deadlifts.

Deadlifts

110 (242) X 3
160 (352) X 3
190 (419) X 2
210 (464) X 1
230 (508) X 1
240 (529) X 1
250 (551) X 2 PB
220 (485) X 6 PB

Front squats

Very weak on these tonight. I did 140 X 5 a couple of weeks ago; today I found 140 X 1 hard going.

Warm ups
100 (221) X 3
Belt on
140 (308) X 1
140 (308) X 1
145 (319) X 1
150 (331) X 1

Oh boy Tann - you just gave me some new long term goals for deadlift reppage on the 551 double. The 485 X5 or 6 may be doable in a few months. Just love how you were apparently able to channel some frustration into PR's.

I didn't know you had a book!?

Front squats are always a fickle tough lift but still decent singles for sure.

Sorry - missed this.

I lost it about 6" off the floor. Felt like my back wasn't strong enough.
