Dear BBOD,

Thinking of doing Smolov Jr for my squat as it sucks and i want to bring it up. How much weight should i add on week 2 and week 3? I did it for the bench press, it worked really well but I presume that you should use different increments if doing it for the squat. I can do around 300lbs for a couple of reps at the moment. I was thinking also about doing the Smolov base mesocycle instead of the Jr routine.

Question first...

Have you ever trained squats 2x a week before?

Yes. I squat 3-4 times a week. I'm a high frequency kind of guy.

Ok, here's my question...if you are already squatting 3-4x a week, are you backing it with enough food? Have you gained any weight since training high frequency?

If you run Smolov I recommend slapping the feed bag on.

I also need to know where your squat was 6 months ago, and where it is now?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure I help you the best I can get your squat up.

I have a question for you regarding my squat. Its much weaker than my deadlift and no matter what I do it does'nt seem to go up. Iv been training seriously for powerlifting for about a year and a half now and am closing im on a 441lbs deadlift yet my squat max is only 275!

My technique isnt perfect, but not terrible either, but it just wont go up. Iv done 5/3/1 and various other well written routines and have always made consistant progress on my deadlift and bench, but my squat refuses to go up lol.

Im eating well, my technique isnt terrible, and Iv done many well written routines. So whats up? I can post a link to a recent squat vid of mine if youd like to see for yourself?

Thanks dude

Hi BtB,

Im at the road again where i dont know what to do training wise. Ive been stuck on the same weights for at least 6 weeks now and its beginning to get to me ! I need some guidance on what training routine to do. My main goal is strength but i still want some hypertrophy work. My deadlift hasnt budged in months, i know a lot is diet but im constantly questioning how i train and i would like to know what training style/routine you would recommend for me. I need a far more experienced lifter then I to decide.

My numbers and goals are in my sig. Thanks Big man !!

I have gained a decent amount of weight. I have gained around 17 pounds in two to 3 months due to eating above maintenance. 6 months ago my squat was at 220lbs x 5 without a belt and now it's at 285 x 5 with a belt. I was using too much volume hence the slow progress. I will put the feed bag on , BTB. I've watched your videos many times so I think I know what the score is on that. Any advice is appreciated and I will adhere to whatever you say. Obviously a lot of the weight is from water and some fat.

Ok well first let's look at diet. Because without a minimal foundation, progress will be tough.

Here's what I need:

1) Tell me how you eat each day, if you know how much protein and cals or if you just wing it, and what your weight was 6 months ago, and what it is now.
2) What program you are using now.
3) Exactly what your big 3 lifts were 6 months ago (from your log), and what they are now.

You mentioned in your how to powerlifting video to get KLA 2000 wraps, do you mean the 2 M knee wraps or 2.5?
