555 deadlift: http://youtu.be/1PvN_Yu3Rz8

600 deadlift fail: http://youtu.be/iyxbUtz3VkY

Write up.
Drank lots of water and cut carbs 4 days out. Weighed in at 241.2. Spent that day at the Zoo with the family eating everything in sight, then went out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Meet day, nerves were shot driving there, was a little late making it worse. My wife went with me which was great. Saw lots of the same lifters from the push/pull meet I did. Cory Gregory the Musclepharm co president who I'm actually in pretty good with introduced me to Louie Simmons which was pretty cool. There was maybe 15 people who came from Westside and about 9 competed. Out of all the Westside benchers they were all benching like 7-800 lbs but they failed every attempt except one guy who got his third. There was this giant dude though with traps I can't even describe, yeah I had trap envy, he Deadlifted 805 raw, then got his second attempt, not sure weight, and then Deadlifted 905 in only a belt and knee sleeves. Super awesome to see! As for my attempts:
Squat warmups hit a 405x3 in wraps easy. I've never squatted in a monolift before. First attempt 445 smoked it. 505 went forward in the bottom, big thanks to my spotters because I doubt I could've recovered it. I retook the weight and smoked it, making sure I did a little walkout. All in all it felt really light on my back and if I would have walked it out each time I might have done the 545 I wanted.

Bench warmup, some pullups, lots of arm/shoulder mobility, and a fair amount of bar work. Didn't get a lift off for 225 as its light weight. Got a lift off for 250 and 270. All 3 went smoothly and are repeat attempts of the push pull I did. Those that follow me know I have a deltoid issues and it flared up bad after this. I know it's a muscular issue as my xrays showed nothing and Dr. said looked great.

Deadlifts.
My wife went home and got my kids so they watched me deadlift.
Warmed up with singles to a 455. 515 flew up. 555 (PR)was not terribly hard. Probably should have went for 585 third attempt but I had my heart set on a 600. I think my leverage was slightly off as you see it turned into a hellish grinder midshin. Had I jammed my hips forward about 2-3 seconds before I failed I might have been able to get it. Sad to say this did snap my shit up a little but I've been down this road before.

Total 1330.
Very pleased with this. Very happy that I can learn things from my failures as well. Very thankful to my wife for putting up with all my BS. Happy to be going into some off season training. Lastly, thank you MAB for support, knowledge, and inspiration. Forums have a negative reputation with some, but for basement lifters like me I wouldn't lift the weight I can, or be who I am today without this forum.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.

Awesome job at the meet. Very cool that your wife is inspired in it too, the strongest lifter (lbs for lbs) at my gym is a woman, and we have some other really strong women competitors here as well. It's taking off for them.
