Default Going for a 405lb bench today

I am getting excited!
I have a client coming in at 1:00 to spot me. On Monday I repped 315lbs 10 times and using the 1rep calculator my max is about 421lbs.
The most I have ever done before is 365lbs but I rarely try one rep maxing, but is has been a long time goal for me to bench 400lbs. I think I will do it.

Wish me luck,
Any tips for getting jacked for it? I wish I had some smelling salt or something like that. I will down a bottle of Monster or something similar.
I will let you know if I did it.

I'm going to make those 45's my bitches.

That sucked, I didn't even move it an inch...lol

Maybe I wasn't totally recovered from Monday but I wasn't sore at all.
I'm just not as strong as I thought I was. I will probably up my weight for my workouts and stay in the 4-6 rep range as opposed to 8-10.

The 45's made me their bitch, but I am not giving up that easy.
I will bench 400lbs soon.

The best news is I didn't hurt myself.

Thanks for helping me get psyched, that wasn't the issue I was pumped. I just didn't have the strength.

Hang in there man. A 5 pound difference can feel like 50 pounds. I nailed 320 a while back but 325 felt like 500.

I had the same problem when using the rep calculator, I think it's only accurate on low-rep calculations. My last 1RM bench test was based on 215x5, 1RM calculated was 250, I was working up to it, 235 went up no problem, jumped to 245, and only got a couple inches off my chest. I probably should have done 240 first, but I was expecting a 250 max that day, so I did bigger increments.

Try getting down to 5-6 RM and calculate your 1RM from there and see if it's any different.

Jumping from 10 reps to 1 rep is a big step, try using a program like Wendler's 5/3/1 to give some variety to the reps/set.

I agree with that, I used to use 1RM calculators a lot and it gave me a very swelled view of my strength. Now that I actually do 1 rep maxes, I know my true max, now I will never trust a rep calculator.
