Default Candito 6 week strength program

Would like to hear opinions on this program devised by Powerlifter and youtuber Johnny Candito.

I would like to switch to a upper/lower and my squat has been hovering around 290 lbs for reps but it's beginning to regress so I feel a change is due and this could be it. Any opinions would be great!

Personally, I've never tried it. With that said, I've only heard positive things about it.

It looks interesting. The guy is a beast, that's for sure, but of course that doesn't mean he knows anything about training. The program is based on having a different focus for every one of the 5 weeks leading up to an optional deload. Most traditional periodization programs include mesocycles in the 2-6 week range, so this program is very different since the focus is different every single week. It's something I haven't really seen before.

It's free, so if it looks good to you I say give it a 6 week run. Just make sure to let us know how it goes!

You probably would still be better off with a linear program where you dont change reps week to week. I'm currently in the same situation 290 for reps, just a thought man. There is no reason to push something when we can still make gains on simple straight sets with similar reps week to week.

As for the program, I assume that it would be fantastic for most people. He is a great guy and lifter and I believe it's how he trains prior to a meet.

Thanks for posting this, I really like his linear strength/control and strength/hypertrophy progams.

As far as an opinion, all of his programs look really well thought out, and he runs them personally which gives me confidence. I don't see how you could wrong trying it for 6 weeks.

After thinking about it I've decided to give the Texas method a run instead. After I've given that a really good go I'll move on to this. Thanks for all the replies guys.

A split (e.g., upper/lower) can be a breath of fresh air after some amount of time training full body, I've found. Of course, ymmv, and you gotta do what appeals to you, always. Just an anecdotal thingy, is all.

I know OP got this figured out but I wanted to get some opinions on part of Candito's reasoning for the weekly changes.

This is from the PDF attached to the 6 week program:
