Anyone have any thoughts on the program or run it themselves?

I haven't run it, but I have read a lot of reviews here. Some guys here at MAB thought it was too much volume for their liking.

I think that's going to be a personal thing.

His ICF 5x5 workout A & B split is a good program. However, like BTB said it is a lot of volume. I know it says it is a beginner program but I don't think a beginner can walk into the gym and do that, then go back 2 days later and do it again. I think you'd have to build up to that kind of volume because the DOMS will be there for a few weeks.

So yes, it's a good program but I would run a few weeks of it with reduced volume to ease your body into it.

I think I heard of that one (not ICF 5x5, which I have definitely seen)...

Just work up to one top set with the main lifts, I believe. And not a lot of accessory work at all. Maybe two days a week training? Two or three, anyway.

I was not impressed, and I ain't competing in anything. But YMMV, etc.

1.) I don't think you need to squat 3 times a week. My legs have grown fine without doing that.
Also, 3 times a week, 5x5 squats are hardly going to be appropriate for someone who's literally just started lifting.

2.) I don't see the point in doing barbell shrugs..
Seems unnecessary as a beginner when you have dead lifts in there.

3.) Hyper extensions too seem unnecessary.
Maybe wrong there though (and correct me if I am)

4.) Why only one set of deadlifts once a week?

5.) He says barbell rows build more muscle than pendlay rows, and that's why he picked them for the program.
You don't see anyone heavy pendlay rowing, with a small back and stick man arms.

To me it seems the main two exercises, he's kind of screwed up.

Squatting 5x5 3 times a week like that is over kill, and only doing 1 set of dead lifts per week likely isn't enough.
But he has curls in there on both workouts?

Too much unnecessary exercises and volume, and both too little and too much of the exercises that are the most demanding, and are going to really put the most muscle on your frame.

I actually respect Jason, (His views on vegetarianism) but he has this underlying arrogance in his video's that annoys me..

I'm quite obviously no expert, but using what I've learned, and what I know works for me personally in my short time lifting, I wouldn't have thought this was a great option.

Just my humble opinion.
