I've heard it said; if you lift the same weight for the same number of reps, but it got easier, then you've gotten stronger.

Like stated everybody has to find what works for themselves. I switch it up all the time.
For me sometimes dropping the weight down by 5-10% and doing very slow and controlled form with the same amount or 5 more reps works great for me.

Yeah Rep goal works for me, It lifted my proper powerlifting squat up to 180kg in a couple of months. All those reps helped with my strength and form and my legs grew a inch, but I only ever reped up to 150kg. I still cant get my head around it.

I like High Reps (10-20 reps) for Squat and Calves.

Bench Press and Press Behind the Neck work best with low to medium reps for me (5-8 reps)

The others vary—few higher than 10 reps.

This probably varies with person to person.

Jason says that 5 Reps Is High Reps.

Paul Carter (lift-run-bang) heavily advocates what he calls "base building", which is essentially staying around the same weight, but adding reps, lowering rest periods, and upping bar speed when possible. Essentially upping the intensity by means other than adding weight if you're feeling good on a particular day. Actually a series of really informative articles on his site about it.

Interesting.

I have recently decided to shift my "main lifts" to around 8-10 reps (or so), which - for those lifts - is "high" for me.

I know, it's not really the same thing that he was talking about, and I ain't no powerlifter anyway (and pretty new to lifting besides), but still, high reps (in a different configuration) have also been working for me, it seems.

Anyway, to be honest, I thought low reps combined with high reps was standard issue for powerlifters. Is that not the case?

You're right about that. Actually the same holds true for natural bodybuilders, without the drugs they have to be strong to grow, but they don't usually go as low as 1-3 reps for extended periods of time.
