"That knee wrap though"

I'm a new 50+ guy here making a comeback.
That knee wrap sparked a memory of my last meet...

A meet in the early '80's.
I had competed a couple times before in 198, 220.
I was close to a 1500 total and my opening squat was around 530 and I was the last lifter. I thought I was a big shot, but I wasn't.. Lee Moran was there.
Remember him?
I made the Fatal mistake of asking him to wrap my knees.
"I don't wrap my own knees, my trainer will help you"
Well, he sprays this glue on my knees and proceeds to pull with all his might.
OH FU**K like plaster casts, I was use to maybe 10% of that tightness.

I straight legged to the stands, backed out and began to lower.

slowly

painfully

all the way

hard... to...do ....with only 500....

I had no rebound, I slowly rose , but it hurt and I said "SH*T" as I drove my hips.
Made it.

Red lights
DQ'd

I think Lee squatted around 1000 that day.

I went to college, got married, had kids, worked, still working, got fat and creaky.
Now I am getting hard and digging the honesty of this forum.

Don't ever do something vastly different from how you train.
Just one more example
