Annoyed by this, hope its only a minor set back, as things have been going well so far (since the last knee incident)
Are you still doing mma stuff or is this just from lifting and life? Heal up bud, smash upper body!

No man, cut out all the martial arts excluding the occasional boxing session, which I have keep to an absolute minimum

even skipped this for the last two weeks
focusing on getting strong/bigger - its my #1 goal.

gonna add more stretching and foam rolling, possible more core work planks etc

I was told that a weak core could be contributing to my leg issues

Try to improve that core. Sure won't hurt. If you can get a video from the front on your squats. Seeing your knees and feet might help spot any issues.

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate your advice.

squats start at 25 seconds in.
2nd set at 2mins in.
both sets in the video are at 50kg.

Sorry about the low light, you might not be able to tell anything from the this video.

I can see in the video I'm not goin as deep on the sore side.

in Green is the areas that are sore, particularly the knee cap, and yellow feels strained

Form looks Good. You may be experiencing some tendonitis. My main advice is to not squat as deep and see if it helps at all. Sometimes it's a matter of making small changes.

Squats looked good to me bud. I do have to ask, are those shoes soft soled? Looks like they might not be ideal for squatting if they have too much give in them.
