I did not know you pulled 240 for a tripple before maxing out with 200. That makes the 9 reps even greater, fine work Tann!

Hey Swede. Thanks. Oddly a heavier pull beforehand actually sets me up for rep work.

Sunday

Still pretty whacked from the preceding week and DOMS from Friday's deadlifts. Didn't have much time today so whizzed through the workout and left out the grip work I was intending to do.

Parallel grip pull ups

Not bad. I can do pull-ups with an extra 30-50 lbs any day of the week now, which I'm pleased with. Kept these fast, but all done from dead hang.

Bodyweight X 5
Bodyweight + 20kg (44) X 5
Bodyweight + 20kg (44) X 5
Bodyweight + 20kg (44) X 5
Bodyweight + 20kg (44) X 5

T bar rows

Having recently rediscovered these, I've been looking forward to them all week. I can't use much weight on them yet. Something pinged in my neck so I had to watch the later sets.

50 (110) X 8
75 (154) X 8
75 (154) X 8
75 (154) X 7
75 (154) X 7

Paused Bench Press

Haven't done these for ages. All reps paused 1-2 seconds. V surprised how they tired me. By the 100 kg back off set I had nothing.

100 (221) X 4
120 (265) X 3
130 (286) X 5
130 (286) X 5
130 (286) X 4
100 (221) -not paused X 8 !!

Worried about my neck by now so flyes abandoned. Seems to be OK now.

No issue really, just felt a muscle strain in it, and it hurts a bit now. No big deal. It does this once a year or so, usually from training back. If I'm sensible, it should be fine.

Wednesday

Not so strong tonight. I've decided that I might have a shot at deadlifting 600 (272.5), so I want to focus on that for a while. I'm not sure I like the way I'm approaching this, but training time at the moment is unpredictable, so a structured program is tricky.

Deadlifts

Not where I want to be, but two positives are (a) Doubles on 240 are getting to be routine, whereas 240 used to be my bete noir for any reps. (b) The 250 was something approaching a grinder. This is good because I can't normally grind a weight up at all. It either goes or it doesn't, I don't usually have the strength to move it slowly.

110 (242) X 5
160 (353) X 2
work sets
210 (464) X 1
230 (508) X 1
240 (529) X 2
250 (551) X 1
230 (508) X 3
210 (464) X 5

Double overhand deads from shin

To work on grip
110 (242) X 10
110 (242) X 8
110 (242) X 7

Wide grip pulldowns

72 (154) X 12
72 (154) X 10
72 (154) X 10

Nice! 600 pull will be epic. You're not too far away. Haha, yeah, I can't really grind them either and I can always tell a bit of a strength boost because I manage to grind one up. I like a heavy single before reps too. Works a treat.

Good stuff, Tann.

The iron is there during my times of happiness, sadness and anger. The iron is there available through the 4 seasons and inclement weather. The iron is there to either comfort me or motivate me. The Iron manages to show me how strong I am or how humble I need to be. The iron does not yell, but it always demands respect. The iron is not a disciplinarian, but when disrespected, I feel it for a long time. The iron does not love or hate, but we definitely share a strong bond. And no matter how far I stay away or for how long, the iron is there, waiting to be lifted.
