Default 8/27/13 Cycle ? Week 1 Power Clean

Power Clean
120x5
140x5
160x5 (Goalx5)

Split Squat
15x10,25x10,35x10

Decline Bench Crunches
bwx23,23,18

Overall Workout Grade: A

Notes:
Power Cleans continue to progress, 5lbs a cycle. Haven't had to stop and reset at all. I continue to get better. All this without an OLY coach!
So let this be a lesson kids, when someone tells you that you can't power clean without a coach tell them to f**k off and go try it. If you do enough homework and practice a bit, you can power clean without a coach. Just like anything else, it takes a bit of effort to do correctly.
And btw, I am doing this with a bad lower back. So I emphasis tightness from the floor, and not hyperextending on the rack, keeping all the load on my abs.

Had to cut the workout rather short, I just ran out of time this morning. But I got split squats in. These are great and are progressing along nicely.

Hit my abs, called it a session

Way to go Big J! Nice to see the fun factor on those PC's. Just curious, are you able to do full cleans? Not sure because of your lower back, but perhaps a full clean might enable to you start squatting again, or are squats totally forbidden?

At any rate, nice to see you lifting as hard as ever.

Hahaha, I totally agree...drives me nuts when I read "I can't do this/that because I have no coach to show me how" especially when there are so many analytical vids out there now as well.

Nice work, Josh!

Thanks Jim! I haven't tried full cleans in a number of years. I can however front squat, so I would imagine I could full clean too. As of right now, my only squat option is front squat, but that may change...

Nice work, Josh!
My point exactly. The info is out there. Would having a coach be nice? Yes, of course, but that is not feasible for a lot of us.
And on top of that, dont' tell me I need a coach to do something, when I've freakin' done it without the coach! I myself have done it and am doing it.....
[/rant]
Thanks Babs!

Default 8/30/13 Cycle ? Week 2 Bench Press

Bench
232.5x3
265x3
297.5x4 (Goalx3)
225x8

CGBP
205x8,8,6

DB Row
95x10,105x10,120x10

Overall Workout Grade: B

Notes:
On paper it doesn't look like a bad session, but it really was a struggle this morning. I was ill from migraines yesterday and vomited yesterday morning. Also because of that I didn't eat as much yesterday as I usually do.
This had an impact.
232.5 felt heavy as fuark. I almost didn't do my top bench set. I did it and got 4, but it was not my greatest performance. It was sloppy and a bit hitchey. I have a video I am trying to upload, but youtube is struggling this morning.

Cut the workout short. I was just feeling drained. I might try to do a double session this afternoon. If i do I will hit the ancillary movements i didn't do this morning. Hopefully it works out.

Congrats on the rep PR for OH Press. Baby steps to 225.

I have been working on my power cleans with just the bar and without an oly coach! Looking to get better so I can turn that into a lifting day.

Great job for still getting in your bench session. Thats a lot more work than most ppl do in entire day. Stay strong Big J!

Speaks volumes about your talent and prowess on bench, despite being a bit sloppy. Thankfully your not hurt and will live to fight another day tho!
